On January 25, 2003 My husband and I went to Gary Mathews Automall in Jackson Tennessee. We were looking at getting an used vehicle. We ended up getting a 2001 Dodge Intrepid. When we went to fill out the paperwork our salesperson told the finance person to offer us the five year extended warranty. The finance person asked us if we would like the five year extended warranty . We said yes. It was added to our payments.

Nothing was explained about the warranty at this time. We signed the papers and everything was great until November 3, 2003. We took our vehicle in because it was making a funny noise. I explained to "name" (who tagged it in) that we had extended warranty on the vehicle. "name"( explained to me that they needed to find the problem then turn it into the warranty company.

After that it would be a hundred dollar deductible. They later called my husband saying they did not find anything wrong with the vehicle and wanted him to authorize more work. He asked if warranty would cover it. "name" stated she was almost positive warranty would they just had to find the problem first. After 999 dollars worth of cost to take apart the motor we were asked to turn in oil receipts.

We did not keep them and my husband notified "name"of this , that no one had told us anything about keep them. This was the first time we had heard about it but we would try to find them.

After a few weeks of searching we were only able to come up with one. During this time my mother-in-law also called "name" and talked to her about the warranty . "name" stated to her she was ninety-nine percent sure warranty would cover it. We turned in the one receipt we had. We then called back a few days later and they said a warranty guy was coming to inspect the vehicle.

After about a week we then called them several times again and we were told that warranty would not cover the vehicle because it had "long term sludge". My husband asked "name" how it could have long term sludge when we just bought the vehicle in January. My husband asked how much it would cost to have the vehicle fixed. "name" said it would cost 7 thousand dollars. We still owed 12 thousand on the vehicle. We decided to try to trade it in. They would not let us trade it in since we had not had it long enough and we did not have enough equity in the car. My husband then talked to "name" to see if there was some way we could make payments on the thousand dollars we already owed them."name" said no and that they would now charge us 10 dollars a day for storage.

Our finance company (GMAC) when they heard about all of this also called Gary Matthews advising them it would be in everyone's best intrest to fix the vehicle and release it back to us. Gary Mathew's Automall still refused. When I went to pick up a carseat out of our vehicle I had looked in the trunk and also noticed they had laid our dirty motor parts in the trunk without any plastic or anyting under it.

Our car has now been repoed and we still owe 12, 000 on it. Gary Mathews is also now saying that they never said they were almost positive or 99 percent positive that warrany would cover it. My mother -in-law is also writing the BBB letting them know exackly what was said to her and that in fact this was said to her. We also find out after looking over our warranty papers that is was not a 5 year warranty but approximately 3 years. No one told us about any of this. We were deceived and left completely in the dark.

We were left without a vehicle. No one will do anything about it. To hire a lawyer would cost too much for us. We were advised by comsumer complain personal and BBB to hire a lawyer. The cases were closed saying the couldnt make them do anything. We also contacted the Dodge corporation with our story. Everyone beware of this company. It could happen to you!

This was the second vehicle we bought from them. The first was when they were "Wilsons" so we did not think we would have this kind of problem. This was our first vehicle my husband and I had purchased together. In the future we will take home all paperwork and read it before signing anything. However when we took the car in for repairs they said they were almost positive warranty would cover it they just needed to do this or that and have us authorize it. Everytime they said that my husband and mother n law asked if warranty would cover it. They said yes everytime, that they just needed to do this. Then later wanted us to pay them 1,000 for the work they had done on the car since warranty was not going to cover it and wanted 7,000 to fix the car! Who in the world would have 7,000 laying around just to fix a car you've only had 8 months and owe 12,000 on it. If we had that kind of money we would have put it down on the car in the first place! Even after everything they continued to lie saying they did not ever say they were almost positive warranty would cover it etc. when we know they did. They said it to 3 of us. I am still writing anyone and everyone I can about it.

Did you read the warranty?

Thru out this posting you said "name" told you this and that about the warranty. When you purchased the warranty you stated nothing was explained about its coverage. My question very simply is DID YOU READ IT??? DID YOU KNOW WHAT IT SAID? There is NO excuse for poor treatment of a customer, EVER. But the customer has 100% RESPONSIBILITY in knowing what they are getting into which means READING and UNDERSTANDING everything BEFORE you sign. There are tons of garbage scams called "warranty" and many of the slime of the car business do anything they can to slime their way out of their responsibilities. Secondly, forget the BBB. Did you read that??? I said FORGET the BBB! The BBB is nothing but an entirely USELESS operation which collects fees and GIVES AWAY "Satisfactory" ratings to those who pay those fees.
