GE Money Bank Finance Company For Ethan Allen Furniture Refusal to Bill in order to rack up fraudulent late charges. Orlanda Florida
I purchased a sofa from Ethan Allen furniture in New York. We used the financing company because of the attractive $0 money down/$0 money due for 1 year feature. I received ONE (1) bill from GE Money Bank in January of 2007 whereupon I paid the entire $2,000 payment. Since that time there had been no further communication about the balance of my account until a series of sick telephone calls began in October of this year (2007).
An anonymous person called my place of employment claiming that I owed money (which I do) and that I should release my personal account information over the phone. I refused and asked that a bill be sent. The person continued to badger me over the phone whereupon I repeated that I would not give my account info over the phone and to please send me a bill in the mail.
I never received anything in the mail. I did however, get repeated harassing phone calls at home and on the job again asking me to make payments over the phone. In each case I asked that a paper bill be sent to me. I affirmed that I have no problem paying bills but that I insist on having paper copies. I also advised the mal-adjusted caller that in reality I had no proof that I was talking to a real company representative and that I prefer to see the bill so I would not be subjected to identity theft.
These transactions are greatly disturbing because of the following: I never received any billing statements, when I got them I received three sets of fake copies after I had to beg to get them, I am being charged late fees but was never given the chance to pay on time because the real bills were never sent, the callers were also very unprofessional mal-adjusted is an understatement.
In any case, to make a long story short I don't know whether this was an attempt to tarnish an otherwise spotless credit history, or an attempt to perpetrate identity theft, or an attempt to collect additional money in the form of late fees.
