It only means that the car has been repaired sufficiently to pass a state inspection. I have worked with Hondas most of my career, and what your dad received was a fair price for a rebuilt 94 Accord wagon.

Only you, your friend, and your dad are living in some fantasy land thinking that a reconstructed car has a value that is close to a that of the same car with a good title. Everyone else that knows anything about cars knows that most reconstructed cars are junk. Most banks and lending sources won't go near them when it comes to financing either. If a dealer sells a car that has a reconstructed title and does not disclose the fact you can get your states motor vehicle commision to unwind the deal. I just wanted to respond to this post to protect others who may read this and think that they would be okay if they bought a car with a salvage title and paid anything close to the price of a car with a good title. Also you should have told them you had a $2000 stereo system in there since you can't prove any of it. I don't think they are being unreasonable for wanting some kind of proof that you had owner installed accessories.
