Gem Auto Sales Jim Mitchell TOTAL RIP OFF--DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS GUY Williamson, New York
My sister and I went to Gem Auto Sales - Williamson NY to look at a truck she was interested in. I had found a vehicle I wanted to look at also. They have "guaranteed" credit approval. First he puts a plate on the car I wanted to look at and I drove it. He asked for my keys to drive my car for trade in. I got back to lot and told him I wanted to think about it.
My sister drove the truck which was on his website for approx. $4500 - it was an older truck but had low miles and was in good condition. Once he started doing paperwork, all of a sudden he said she had to have more down than originally discussed. Then he said he cannot get her approved for the truck, but he could get her approved for a car that was approx. $7900. We looked at car and it was a mess - rusted spots on hood, filthy, etc. She told him she wasn't interested in the car. Then he puts information back into the computer on the truck. Shows it to my sister and the truck went from $4500 to $10,000 - when we questioned him, he said that $4500 was the cash price. We told him it didn't say that on his website and he said he could put anything he wanted on the website. So we walked out the door and he followed us. So question remains - how could he get her approved for $7900, but not $4500. What a rip off he is.
Then we came home and we noticed that my rear passenger door had a large flaw in it that wasn't there before he drove it. Looks like he had the door open and someone else hit it or he hit something with it. The edge of the door is now flared up so they will deduct for that when I trade it. Of course, he denied doing it. Said it was there before he drove it. It is very noticeable so I know I would have seen it before that. We stopped no where on the way home, so I am 100% sure he did it.
He was also trying to tell me about some issue with the wheels - there is no issue with my wheels. Had the car checked - nothing. Said that just in case I made deal with him he could deduct from trade price.
Avoid this guy and dealership completely. There are many other places to go that won't cheat you, rip you off and damage your vehicle when he tests drives it. He is a liar and should be thrown in jail for fraud, along with his many other "problems".

I am sorry that Linda felt that her experience here at Gem Auto Sales was not positive. Here at Gem Auto Sales I strive to maintain a level of fairness and honesty which shows by the longevity of my business in the same location. Gem Auto Sales has been in business in this location for the past 15 years and has many repeat customers along with second and third generation customers.
Sometimes the pricing of the guaranteed financing is confusing to customers but we always strive for being upfront and honest with them. I am sorry that Linda did not understand the guaranteed pricing program and I probably should have explained it in a clearer fashion to her.
As far as the damage to her vehicle is concerned, I can say with 100% certainty that I did not cause this damage.
I invite Linda to come back to my dealership in the future and know that I will be able to make this experience a positive one for her.
