In 2007 I purchased a Generac generator from Home Depot.  Except for the 5-10 minute weekly test it was only used once or twice in a power outage.  It has stopped working twice and according to the repairman and Generac the same part needed to be replaced at the cost of $500 plus $400 each time.  It took a month for the first part to arrive and be installed.  That part is obviously defective because the generator is still not operating.  We had been waiting for 2-3 weeks for the second replacement part to arrive.  Finally the part arrived, the repairman installed it again and the generator still is not working.  Now Generac and the repairman claim that another part must be replaced.  They claim that this is what is causing the first part to fail.  It is a wait and see game and it is very frustrating.
