I moved with Giant Van Lines/Giant Moving & Storage in February of 2001. They inflated the price I was quoted, and I was basically forced to sign documents and contracts under duress. I paid for half of the move up front on my credit card. My belongings arrived approximately 10 days after the moving date.

Upon arrival, the drivers demanded payment in cash up front before unloading the van. I paid them and they unloaded my belongings. When they were finished, I found they had not unpacked $2,000-$3,000 of my things. When I asked them where the rest was, they stated they did not know. I demanded the cash I'd paid them up-front back, they called their supervisor (Gabe Suissa).

He said they'd accidentally left the items in their storage space, and that they'd ship them to me. When asked about the money, he said he could not give me the money back. The police were called. I continued to attempt to get the money back. I explained to them that until I received all of my belongings, I would not pay the full amount. The drivers tried to leave. I stood in front of one of them, and he pushed me out of the way.

The police were called again, this time for assault. To make a long story short, the money was given back under the pretense that I pay the balance of the move with my credit card once I receive my belongings. The police never arrived.

2 weeks later, my belongings arrived via UPS. Most everything had been damaged, most of the damage shown to be intentional. My brand new 27 inch sony trinitron tv was smashed beyond repair. A large footprint on the top of the television. The packages had been insured, however UPS stated the damage was obviously by fault of Giant Moving and Storage.

Gabe offered me $110 for the damages incurred to nearly $3,000 worth of my belongings. I refused and contacted the BBB. The BBB was not able to resolve this issue. I attempted to dispute the charges made to my credit card, but the credit card company stated the charges were "shipping charges" and could not be disputed.

I explained the charges were for a service rendered that resulted in loss and damage of my belongings. They still would not dispute the charge. To this day, I have not received a cent from Giant Moving and Storage, nor do I think I ever will.

Until recently, I thought I'd been the only person scanned by Giant Moving and Storage. Now that I know there are more of us, I think we need to fight back.
