Giant Van Lines overcharged for moving services. they did not honor the contract we signed and refused to take our items off the truck unless we paid more Ripoff Jessup Maryland
We moved from Washington DC to New York City in July 2005. We used Giant Van Lines. At first they were helpful and flexible but we ended up having a terrible experience. First of all, the asked us to sign multiple forms so we ended up paying for an addition 5 hours of driving time that we did not expect. This may have been our mistake in not being more careful - it is as if they wanted to make things confusing to trick us - but one could argue that we should be more careful so that is not the main complaint. The main complaint is that we agreed to $95/hour for the move. We have a signed contract with this amount. But then they charged $120/hour. When we protested they would not budge and said that because the date was changed there was a new rate. They had us sign other papers when the date changed, but the rate was always the same. They said if we did not like it then they would take our things back to their offices and lock them in storage. We needed our things and had no choice - but we are out the $25/hour difference for 15 hours. But mostly we are angry that we were cheated.
