BEWARE! This was first time I used a moving company and was unaware that most send an "appraiser" to assess how much "stuff" needs to be moved to provide an accurate quote. Giant did not do this. I spoke with "Greg" during my first interaction and performed the rest of the transaction via email. While he promptly responded to my emails, he would not directly answer questions dealing with prices.

Day of the move: I was promised that they would arrive between 9am - 10am; they arrived @ 10:30am.

I had a 2 bedroom condo and I packed myself. I had to let them use their materials on certain items or they would not move them. The move took a total of 10 hours = 1 hour travel to new location + 9 hours to load & unload.

Estimate of job from "Greg" was $600; actually cost once they got to destination over $1300 to be paid in cash, credit card or cashiers check at time of delivery OR they would take household goods back to their warehouse for storage until I paid the bill.

The movers damaged the new property when moving items throughout the house. I discovered several items broken while unpacking. I expect to have problems with the claim for damages and expect to have to take them to court.

I was UNAWARE that others had similiar experiences with this company..had I known I would have NEVER chosen Giant to handle my move.

Let the BUYER BEWARE -- GIANT VAN LINES does not operate under the banner of Integrity or Honesty.

Giant has no license! lost their license because they lacked the proper insurance

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, November 01, 2004

They also do not operate under the banner of Licensed and Insured. On October 2nd, they lost their license because they lacked the proper insurance. I know thy're still moving because I often see them driving in VA, nowhere near their offices in Jessup. If your move was done after Oct 2, it was completely illegal. Contact the DOT at 1-888-dot-saft. Then call the Baltimore BBB to file a complaint, and the Maryland Attorney General.
