Giant Van Lines is deceptive and the worst moving company anyone could do business with. They give a quote, show up at house and start repacking what you have packed, throw rolls of tape in boxes to charge you for more, waste packing supplies and you have to add, in my case, almost $500. Storage was not accessible as we were promised. Articles arrived in boxes that were moldy and wet, ruined photos and articles of value and personal treasure beyond mention. Broke articles, oriental rug all stained, boxes had huge holes all the way through as if a fork lift had punctured...they even spilled boxes on delivery and the truck ran over. For this, one has to pay cash up front. Three movers on delivery end left a lot of things in garage. They broke the tire off the trailer with boat. When asked to sign job was complete, I told the man I couldn't verify on the spot all things were there..."that's o.k. you have 30 days"....well, good luck. I wrote this on receipt which GIANT VAN LINES ignores. I was told to photograph, took many days doing so, submitted 60 pictures of smashed items, broken furniture and even a smashed stair tread in my house, most boxes smashed. Total was just under $4000 to which GIANT VAN LINES "as a courtesy" offerred me $63.00. They lost a chair, table, family portraits, etc. and also "as a courtesy" looked for them, but too bad, didn't find them. I cannot reach anyone at this company through phone, email, nor will they return same. I kindly offerred to negotiate but no response, so due to my GIANT VAN LINES experience, I am out around $8000.00. There is more distress to this story but perhaps this enough to warn anyone not to use this company. J Yarmouthport, Massachusetts

Applicable Charges - Rights and Remedies

#2Consumer Suggestion

Applicable Transportation Charges- The charges a mover assesses for its services must be contained in a published tariff and the tariff must be made available to prospective shippers upon request. A carrier cannot assess a rate lawfully that is not contained in its tariff. If you feel that the mover has overcharged you, you can me toll free at (866) 254-1792 to obtain assistance with requesting a review of the charges assessed by the mover, and which were paid by you at the time of delivery of your shipment. I can also provide you with information regarding your damage claim. Larry Herzig Surface Transportation Board E-mail- [email protected]
