Global Financial Management Karen James Try to buy real estate in Seattle, wanted to use lawyer's escrow account to proceed. Central Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Other
Initially contacted by "Richard E Ashton, dermatologist" (which we found out was just a cover name they came up with, but was actually a real person that was not involved) I was informed that he was looking to buy a house in Seattle, (I am a realtor) and wanted to use cash. I sent him some listings and he picked one but said he would be unable to view the home himself. He wanted to setup an escrow account with a lawyer to pay fees such as the inspection, Earnest Money deposit, and the final cash for closing. He asked for a referral, I gave him my lawyer's info. At this point we wrote up an offer and had proof of funds sent to us by Karen James from Global Financial Management Corporation. At this point, my lawyer did some Googling for Richard Ashton, found him and contacted him through his website... which of course was not the right person. I tried to contact my "Richard Ashton" with a copied and pasted contact info from the real Ashton's website asking if this was him... I also informed him that his money would be easily wired directly to escrow and that a lawyer's escrow account was not necessary, nor would anyone do it as there are too many scams going around. I never heard back again.
He wanted to tie up these sellers with a fake offer for some reason... Either to launder funds or to back out of the deal with the inspection and have the lawyer credit him back real money before his fake checks cleared...
