Buyers beware. I was searching on the internet one day to find work from home. We needed an extra income and I wanted to work with home and be a stay at home mom.

I saw an ad on the internet that stated "Be a travel agent at home." I filled the information out and someone called the very next day. I was told that I would receive 10% on all travel I booked and there were two ways to do so. I could simply work the travel business myself or I could simply refer my clients to call the 800 number and global travel (aka GTI) would take it over from there. Everything sounded great. I paid the $495 to get started and began work. I received my website and started advertising my business.

I began to book all travel arrangements for my family, as well as, my church and a few other churches. I was so excited. One of my first bookings was for 2 adults at an exclusive anniversary get a way for one week. I booked the hotel, the car, and the plane tickets. There total was $4,000. Once travel was complete, I called global travel to see when I would receive my 10%. I was told it would be 90 days before my check was cut. This certainly was not explained to me in the beginning. So, I hesitated but continued booking travel. Within 4 months time I had booked a total of $10,000 of travel through global and couldn't wait to get paid.

After 90 days, I called I was told the vendors(hotels, car rentals) had not sent payment in so I couldn't get paid. I received a few dollars on the plane tickets but I my account needed to get to $75 before a check would be issued.I knew I had brought in more money than that. So, I called the hotels and car rental companies myself. I kept very good notes and always kept every booking number. The hotels and rental companies had indeed PAID!!

I called global travel back with this information also giving them the phone number I had dial and the booking number again for verification. Finally, several days later someone called me from global travel with a new story. I was told this time that when the vendors pay, global travel has up to 90 days after receiving payment to cut a check to the travel agent. Which meant, if someone booked travel in Jan. they might not receive any money until June!! I was so upset and hurt. I made a financial scarifice to better my family's situation and I was taken advantage of.

To make a long story short. I waited 7 months and still hadn't received any money. My last conversation was with them on last week. They sent me an invoice for renewal of my travel agent license with them 2 months in advance!! I couldn't believe it. So, I asked about my commission check and they told me and I quote, "Well, if you don't renew your membership with us, you won't receive any commissions that due to you."

My first home business was a devestating. I was taken advantage of and the isn't right!! I am not as devestated anymore, I started working for Melaleuca, Inc. and I get paid every single month no matter how big or small the work is...I still get paid. I am ok now since I have been blesed to find something real now but I would NOT suggest ever WORKING for Global Travel International.
