Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In August, 2002, I received an email from a Globalinx. The email stated that I had until the 27 to reply or my credit card would be charged $54.90. At first, I thought Globalinx was a Internet provider, I had never heard of them.

When I got to work that morning, the 27th, I called the phone number given in the email and ask the girl who answered, Camille, at extension 5409, what this was about. She stated that I had signed up for a long distance program. I told her that I had not signed up for anything and had never heard of Globalinx and she was not to charge my credit card with anything and that I had not authorized it.

She then stated that they had already applied the charge and she couldn't undo it, except to issue a credit. She put me on hold and came back and said that she had issued the credit and it would take no longer than 2 weeks for the credit to go through. I asked her how they obtained my credit card information and she said she couldn't tell me. She only knew that I had signed up for it. I told her I had not.

It took me a couple of months and finally figured out who had given my credit card information out. It was Vista Print, who I had ordered some business cards from.. I waited for a month and still no credit came through. I went to the Globalinx site and emailed them and told them I wanted my credit card credited or I would have to take other measures.

I never heard anything from them. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I then received a letter from the BBB stating that they had contacted a Richard Gibbs at Globalinx and he said I had submitted my information to activate a 15 day trial period of long distance service and had received 500 free minutes in long distance and that it extended into a monthly service per the terms and conditions of the service. I never received nor did I request anything from these people nor did I give them my information or authorize them to charge my credit card. Also on the paper I was sent, it stated that customer had cancelled and that a refund will be made for services not used.

Well, here it is February 21, 2003 and I have still not received any refund. I have written time after time to Mr. Gibbs at [email protected], the email address that the BBB provided to me. I have still never heard a word from him or anyone else in the company. Obviously, this is a common practice for this company. I did write letters to each of the companies that their site stated that they were affiliated with to let them know what kind of company they were doing business with.

This is nothing less than credit card fraud and Globalinx should have to pay customers back their money and in my opinion, pay them interest on the money they obtained and kept all this time, illegally. The letter I received from the BBB was dated on Oct, 18, 2002. I think someone should seriously take a look at the practices of companies like this one and something needs to be done. They have made it a practice to rip people off. I want my money back. I know $54.90 isn't a lot to some people, but I work hard for my money and I don't intend to give it away.

Sincerely,

Kay Maloy
