I ordered bundled service with Globalinx on 7/23/08 for phone service and Comcast for internet service paying for same with my credit card. Big mistake. On 8/2/08 received modem for phone service from Globalinx. On 8/3/08 received call from Comcast that they could not set up my internet service until 8/19/08.

On 8/19/08 Comcast called to say they could not set up internet service until 8/23/08 On same day, 8/19 Globalinx rep called to assist me with modem set up for my new phone service. Told the Globalinx rep that Comcast called to reschedule internet service for 8/23. Globalinx rep (a guy) said "well then we can't set up your phone service until Comcast sets up the internet service" and said he'd call me back on 8/23/08. On 8/23/08 Comcast called to say they would come on Sat., to set up my phone and internet service and they did. Globalinx never called me back. I already had my phone and internet set up by Comcast. The lady at Globalinx (Carmen) said she'd have to charge me $99 to cancel my account. I initially had to pay $86.34 to set up the bundled service and now she wants another $99 to cancel. This by the way is service I've never seen yet from the company, not one bit of service at all from Globalinx. I told her how can I cancel a service in 15 days when I wasn't even scheduled to receive service until 26 days after I initially ordered it. And I'm not too sure that Comcast might not be involved in this either because they didn't "have an opening to set me up" until 26 days after I initially ordered this service. How can you cancel service in 15 days that you haven't even received yet. Of course you know I've reported them to the FTC, NYS Better Business Bureau and I'm not don yet. This company has got to be stopped!!!

5linx doesn't provide a modem

a modem is a box which provides high speed internet from a phone line to a person to use. the 5linx "modem" (it's called a dta box) similar to vonage type system takes the high speed internet signal from the modem and converts to to a phone no, which you can connect a regular phone to.The phone no IS IN THE DTA BOX so you can travel overseas and take it with you so you take your phone no with you OVERSEAS as long as you can connect to high speed you have a portable phone no with a regular phone .
