I purchased a domain name and web hosting from godaddy ten years ago.  The webhosting expired seven years ago.  When they attempted to charge my credit card for renewal I emailed them to stop all attempts to do so.  They continued to attempt renewal several times but were unable to charge my card without an updated authorization code.

On 7/11/16 godaddy was able to charge my card for domain renewal without a valid card security code.  I called godaddy and was told the charge would not be refunded because five days had passed.  When I told them I had not even received notification of the charge until my card statement arrived I was told that it was now between me and my credit card company.

Apparently godaddy is famous for refusing to close accounts and attempting unauthorized charges to credit cards. It also appears that visa is no longer requiring proper validation for automatic charges from known disreputable companies.  I had to cancel my credit card and may end up fighting visa over $109.90.

I would also like  too point out that godaddy's customer service people are well trained in the art of rebuffing attempts to correct these issues.  Be sure to cancel your credit card after doing business with them.
