The three day protection is for door to door sales over the amount of $25 and does not apply to car sales. There is not a federal law that applies to car sales and a mandatory 3 day cooling off period. There is in place is a three day cooling off period for contracts that are signed outside the seller's place of business and that is in Chicago city limits. That is a local law. Sorry there is not more positive information.

I must say this Rip Off Report is a perfect example as to why I have become a consumer advocate. I was reading the other day that Ford Motor Crop increased their revenue by a 15% increase in earnings at Ford Motor Credit. If Ford is willing to fund car deals that are "TOP HEAVY" in other words finance more than 110% or more of the car's true value they are helping car dealers rip off car buyers by keeping the buyers "Up Side Down" in a DEEP WAY. No wonder Ford's profits are up. Most banks will not finance extreme TOP HEAVY loans. Well, let's say this Buyer's car a Ford Escort ZX2 had a sticker of $15,000 and the dealer prints on the Buyer's contract that the cash price is $25,554. That INIT's self should send a GIANT RED FLAG up any pole to Ford Motor Credit telling them to take a second and third look at this car deal and dealership's ways of doing business. It should also tell Ford to keep a close watchful eye on Golf Mill Ford's business practices. If Ford is willing to hang paper like this, I have to question Ford's ethics in a big way aswell. I also would like to commit on Golf Mill Ford having the buyer or Buyers sign two contracts, one filled out and one that was BLANK. What is up with that? I would think that the FTC would love to see all documents pertaining to this car deal. Sounds to me that some very deceptive people are employed at this dealership. I would like to see it Ford Motor Credit is willing to send the contracted buyer a copy of ALL of the documents that Golf Mill Ford has sent to Ford Motor Credit. I am willing to bet that there is some FALSE INFO on some of the documentation that was sent to FORD. It seems real strange that the Buyer's can't see a copy of what Golf Mill Ford's F&I department sent to Ford Motor Credit. Makes you think, what the hell is going on at this dealer behind closed doors! I am also willing to bet that Golf Mill Ford's attorney does not want the buyers to EVER see the blank documents that Golf Mill Ford filled out and sent to Ford. Maybe Golf Mill Ford's F&I people stretched the truth a bit, in other words LIED to get Ford Motor Credit to be willing to do the deal. Ask yourself what company name rings a bell right now? ENRON. Maybe if some F&I people at some car dealers had to go to jail for deception and FRAUD things in the auto industry would be different. The hard cold facts are car dealers lie to lenders everyday just to get car loans approved in the most profitable way for the dealer. I know about a car dealer out west that had the buyer fill out the credit application the way it should be done. After the buyers go home, the dealer's F&I department took it on themselves to fill in the blanks and falsify the Buyer's income to make the bank like the deal a bit better. A few months go by and the buyer contacts the finance company for a copy of the credit application, and what does the buyer discover? The car dealer falsified the buyers income. The dealer lied to the bank by telling the bank that the Buyer's income was much more then the buyer was truthfully making. Banks would not have this kind of trouble if their DUMB A** employees would WAKE-UP and double check everything by contacting the buyers before the bank funds the deal. Bank employees must remember that they are doing business with CAR DEALERS! If banks would double check EVERYTHING before funding ANYTHING some consumers would not have a strange feeling in their back side. It might slow down the Re-po's that are taking place everyday and night. BUT, NO car dealers don't want that to happen. It would prevent them from selling more cars, They can't have that kink in their garden hose. Maybe if the government would pass a few laws on requirements before one can become a F&I person at a car dealership there would not be so much deception in the auto industry. In the case of this Rip Off Report, I would love for the buyer to get Ford to give them copies of ALL DOCUMENTATION that Golf Mill Ford has sent to Ford Motor Credit. I am willing to bet a good heavy lawyer could have a hay day with it. We can't forget about Carmalita who is serving our great country, All she wanted to do was to BUY A CAR in her name. After all is said and done she has SQUAT, and a car she can drive that is not in her name. I bet that the F&I guy that did this car deal is saying "I am the master at telling banks what they want to hear." Carmalita If I were you, I would make sure the following government agencies get a "Printer Friendly Version" of your Rip Off Report. DECEPTION MUST DE EXPOSED! First and formost, any and all car dealerships, regardless if the vehicle is new or used, has to give the buyer a 3 day return date. This is a federal law. This law was placed so that when things like this happens, you feel the deal was wrong, the car was over priced, etc. The dealership does have the right to make you pay a fee for the milage added, but that's it. You need to notify your Attorney General about what went on. Good Luck!

But if I called the next day(which I did) to take the car back and these fools tell me I can't..Then that bull. And on top of that, I asked them for a copy of the 2nd copy of the installment contract and they said they don't have it, Ford Motor Credit has it. But they don't, so.. Plus my father didn't recieve the paperwork in order to trade the car in(he was the owner, not me) So basically they shouldn't even took my car.....I may of been excited that night of the sell, but my senses did come about after the fact(within 12 hrs).

I've been thinking about alot of things. I just looked at our installment contract again, the Ford Escort Zx2 we bought was tagged for about 15,000, but on the contract it say that the car cash price was 25554.00, down payment(which was the rebate) 2500.00. My trade-in was only worth 3593.71(i owed 8406.29) After all of the fancy math worth, the value of the car was 19460.39......It would of been better if they would had the true value of the car as the cash price. It's bad enough every d**n car dealership in Chicago is a ripoff, but you would think a Ford Dealership would be better, since they go way back...Oh, but they may had done it because I'm africian american and so is my husband, both in the United States Armed Forces, below E-4, and very so excited about getting a new car. I find it bull. All I have to say is William Clay Ford needs to teach his companies right from wrong, and how to do business correctly. Not to bend over customers and stick them where it doesn't belong. Get your companies together, why don't we!!!!!!!!!! But I have made myself a promise, Don't Buy Another Ford Product Again....Ever!!!!All Americain, yeah right!!!!

Te only responsibility, or lack of it, is that you signed a BLANK legal document. Why on earth would anyone sign a blank form? Anything can be written and forged on a blank document. What did you think they were going to do with it? Frame it? They probably did because you were dumb enough to do it! It is amazing how you people blame everyone except youselves when it comes to scams. Sure, it was wrong of them to even ask you to sign a blank doc, but it is more unbelievable that you signed it! You have no one to blame other than yourself for this one.
