Rick - The "CarFax Guarantee" is a bit misleading. As far as I know, CarFax does not disqualify a vehicle from it's buy back guarantee because it has an accident on its record. From what I understand, a vehicle will be disqualified from the guarantee if it doesn't have a "clean" title history (i.e. salvage, flood, fire, etc.). That being said, the buyback guarantee only applies if you purchased the report and registered for the guarantee yourself. In this case, CarFax would "buy" the car back from you. CarFax won't enforce this rule on a dealership. Now, you will want to puchase the CarFax for your Grand Cherokee and see if it qualifies for the buyback guarantee (it will be so noted at the beginning of the report). If it does, then the dealership did not mislead you in the statement they made (albeit a somewhat misleading advertisement to someone who is unfamiliar with CarFax). If you find that the buyback guarantee does not apply, then you have a case against the dealership. At the very least, I find it unfortunate that the dealership did not disclose this information (if, as it would appear from your report, they claim to have their mechanic do an inspection before the vehicle is put up for sale). I hope this explanation helps a bit. Best of luck in resolving this issue.
