Goverment Grant Processing Center Scam Las Vegas Nevada
Well, I fell for it. I was woken up at 8 A.M. on a Saturday morning and offered this 'deal'. I had warning bells go off when they asked for my account number and told me that the information packet would not be shipped until the $257 had been deducted from my account. These bells got worse after I was instantly transferred to their 'verification' center, who was staffed by someone with the almost identical accent of the first caller.
He got irate by my continual request for their customer service number, which he said he could not give until my information was entered since it would be a local number. Unfortunately, being a somewhat dense, barely awake, poor college student, I ignored the warnings and gave them the information. The customer service number turned out to be a pager number. I ended up calling my bank and reporting my checking account number compromised.
This is a flat out fraud, as the individual repeatedly claimed to be a government employee. These people have foreign accents and, although I can't be positive, sounded like they had a TV running in the background. Watch out for this one.
