Great Vacations Club - Grupo Mayan Palace a Big Ripoff Puerto Penasco Mexico Internet
My wife and I visited the Grupo Mayan Palace resort in Puerto Penasco Mexico in October of 2007. We were given a timeshare presentation, kept there for six hours and when we were finally told the presentation was over and we would be taken back to our car, two other men who were suppose to be checking us out of the presentation told us they could give us the same deal we were just offered for a fraction of the cost but good for ten years only. They told us we would receive ten years worth of vacation certificates good anywhere in the world with thousands of destinations to choose from.
All we were interested in was coming back to Puerto Penasco each year. He told us we could use the vacation certificates to do that if we wanted. The transaction was charged to a Bank of America credit card, which the salesman opened for us. We received the vacation certificates by mail a few weeks later and everything the salesman told us was a lie.
The certificates all expired with in five years instead of the ten that was promised and none of the certificates can be used in Puerto Penasco (we looked it up on the Great Vacations Club website), which is the only place we wanted to vacation at. We contacted GVC and Bank of America who seems to be working with these thieves, to no avail. The Grupo Mayan Palace and Great Vacations Club are Cheats, Thieves and Liars and we were defrauded by them. Bank of America has been given proof of their scam and refuses to credit back the fraudulent charge.

Unfortunately, Mayan Palace timeshare sales in Mexico are in its majority a huge scam. The OPC, the one on the street inviting you makes $250-$350 per couple...so be sure he tells you any lie there is. Timeshare sales people are rotating from place to place and mostly alcoholics that look for their 8% comission. We were surprised how they work, like sharks, and some are really good showing numbers, benefits, etc...If i did not know, i probably would have bought. Be careful and NEVER make a decision the same day!! They love this, just tell them that you need to think about and they will throw in all they have..that is the sign that someting is not quite right...

We were also scammed with a Mayan Palace Timeshare. They claim they don't misrepresent themselves. Yet the promises and the drinks ease you into signing. Once you've done that, you are screwed. Through all the other initials on your contract, you realize you initialled, that they don't misrepresent themselves. Now you are up the creek. We had 2 timeshares they claimed that Alliance marketing would sell for us in 3 months max. We would recoup the money we paid at the Grand Luxxe and would net out ahead of the game. Well 15 months later, I am out $30k and I still have the original timeshares. I have also not heard a word from Alliance marketing in several months. Plus I found out they are a marketing group, thus not legally allowed to sell. I have had to take a 2nd mortgage out on my house. All the answers I have seen from the Mayan on various websites show they are not at all interested in helping out. Do they not have a concious?

Mayan Palace sales tactics are hardcore and they will tell you anything you want to hear to get you into the contract and keep you in contract with them. It is too common for the sales representative to offer you an upgrade if you already own a timeshare with them.
