I purchased a Green Dot Visa Card at Walgreen's on Wednesday, November 4th and loaded $20 onto it.  That night, I called in to activate the card.  I was told my Social Security Number was "Invalid".  I waited forever to be put on with a supervisor because, obviously, my SSN is valid.  He told me the system "locks" the card and makes it "impossible to validate" after the Social is rejected.  I was informed that I could either:

A. Receive a mail refund in 7-10 days
-This would not be adequate (I thought) because I needed to make an online purchase with the next couple days and that would slow me down.

B. Buy another card and they would refund me and credit me the money I paid for it entirely.
-This seemed to be a much better option... Until I found out Green Dot was raising it's rates a dollar a month, has piss poor customer care, and charges 5 dollars to add funds to a card.

When selecting option B, I asked if it would be okay if I get rid of the activation code.  He said "Yes, I made notes on the account, you should be fine."

Well... I threw out my code, and therein lies the difficulty.  In order to get back on with customer support, I need to have an ACTIVATED card.  This card can't be activated and I don't have the number anymore... As a result, I'm stuck in an automated system.  The only way I can potentially speak to a real person is if I send them snail mail, which is rather ridiculous.  Green Dot has no human that I can talk to unless I buy another card or send them a letter.
