I use Green dot for my direct deposits and have been for some time now. This month when I went to access my funds (including the approx $1300 that was in there prior to the direct deposit) -- I was told that my card had been cancelled. Now Green Dot is holding nearly $3000 of MY MONEY. There excuse for this: I filed a dispute over non-receipt of an item and they haven't been able to get in touch with me to discuss the matter. WHAT??? That means they can take and hold MY $3000.00!!!! I called numerous times and no one is able to assist me. There is never a supervisor on hand and the "person handling my account is not available at this time and I must wait for a call back". HOW CAN THEY TAKE MY MONEY,not release it to me and then tell me I have to wait for them to call me whenever they get around to it?

I am a single, disabled, mother of 4. These people are holding every single dime of my money and I cannot buy food, pay my mortgage, gas or other bills. I am stranded with no money even though I have $3000 in my green dot account. What can I do and how can this be remedied? How can they legally do this? I did nothing wrong. I reported a charge for an item I did not receive and suddenly that gives them the right to hold all of my funds? How is that possible?

I can't sleep, I'm worried I'll lose my home. I can't feed my kids. I'm devastated. Someone PLEASE help me!

... the saying goes "Don't put all you eggs in one basket".  Once the current situation has been resloved keep some of your money in a local financial institution where you easily and quickly access it when needed.  Only use the prepaid card for transactions that require it.  Direct deposits can be split so that a portion of the funds go to one account and the rest to another account.

Better luck in the future!
