I contacted Greenway on the phone to inquire about their services related to perc testing some land I own in Winchester, VA in October of 2005.

Upon contacting them, I setup an initial onsite meeting with one of their soil specialists, and provided him with two (2) "tentative" lots that I wanted perc tested; however, owning 23 lots, I wanted to walk the lots and have them evaluated prior to moving forward with any work. I also informed him that I already had the lots surveyed and did NOT require any survey work; just soil studies.

Prior to even meeting, I called and canceled the meeting as my wife went into labor and I told the company I would contact them this summer to discuss a possible meeting date.

(*Note that at NO time did I sign a contract with this company, nor was I ever informed in writing, on the phone, or via e-mail that there was a cost involved with just talking with them and setting up a physical meeting that never occurred).

On 4/28/06 I received a bill for $260.00 for what they called Surveyor III and Tech. Assistant III. When I contacted the company and spoke with their accounting department (Brandon Ambrose), he informed me that because I setup a tentative project, that they performed work and that I owed them.

However, I was never informed that by talking with them and setting up a meeting to discuss the project, and giving them two "tentative" lots that they could move forward and assume that I was going to hire them. I have NO product to show for this bill, and again, I never signed a contract, met with anyone, and canceled the meeting, nor did I ever say I was going to hire them to actually do the work. Furthermore, according to their bill they are billing me for survey work, and I clearly stated to them that I already paid a company to do the survey work on ALL my lots.

Today, they sent me a letter informing me I have 10 days to pay in full or they would be sending me to a collection agency. Can someone please assist me with understanding how a company can just bill me for a job that I never hired them to do, agreed that they could do it on my behalf, and never signed a contract for any work to be performed?

I, the author of this posting made an error and posted the above statement regarding Greenway prematurely (basically, prior to speaking with someone in-charge) - this was due to my father having an emergency triple bypass. I did not pay attention to a disclaimer pop-up Rip-off has regarding not pulling a posting; however, how is it that if an indvidual makes an error, they are unable to remove their own posting? What makes this situation intolrable is that I attempted to contact Rip-Off Report 3 times and it took them two weeks to respond to a simple inquiry. Regarding my original posting please disregard it; the issue was quickly and professionally resolved the moment I spoke to the Presdent of the company. In short, there was a miscomunication between their accounting department and myself, and since I the customer, was just as responsible for this error, I posted this prematurely, and regret doing so! Especally since being the author and owner of the posting, I cannot remove it?
