On Friday, September 17, 2004, I was put on a Greyhound bus supposedly scheduled to travel from Toledo to Findlay, Ohio. Unfortunately, the bus did not stop at that point, instead proceeding far further down the road to Dayton, Ohio. Besides myself, there were three other individuals destined for Findlay to whom this also happened.

Once it became obvious to me that Findlay had been bypassed, I asked the driver, who simply replied that the first scheduled stop for the bus was Dayton. Though she appeared to have a means of contact with the outside world (i.e., a cell phone) she made no effort to check with anyone to clarify this situation. Later, when I asked the driver for her name, she refused to identify herself. This confusion and incompetence turned what was supposed to be a one-hour trip into a 10-hour debacle. Not only was it at great inconvenience and extra cost to me, it created apprehension and wasted some nine and one half hours of my parents' valuable time, not to mention 45 miles of unnecessary driving on their part when I was not able to arrive as originally planned.

Greyhound customer service offered only a travel voucher equal to the price of the ticket - $27.00 - which is an insult, considering the cost in time and otherwise unnecessary expenses for gasoline and a meal. Also, the condition of the restroom on the bus was disgusting, worse than an unmaintained outhouse. I am considering contacting the local Board of Health on that matter.
