A claim was submitted to Guardsman furniture for warranty services to be provided for chairs that were purchased at Mor Furniture for Less. Apparently Mor Furniture sells warranties for their products that are backed and serviced by Guardsman.

It took this company over two months to finally give me an answer on my claim status, the entire time making my jump through hoops. I had to take pictures and retake pictures of the items that needed warranty service. Plus, I had to send and resend emails and photos multiple times after continuously getting told that they never received anything.

Finally, I was told that I was denied warranty service on the items that I have a warranty for due to "excessive usage." However, no where in their warranty definitions or explainations does it talk about or state what excessive usage is or that having it will disqualify any items from receiving warranty service.

I spoke with a representative who was extremely disrespectful and offered no assistance whatsoever. So, in attempt to get my items serviced I contacted the better business bureau, who gives this company an A+. Much to my surprise, the company gave the BBB the same ridiculous lines about why they wouldn't honor the warranty and the BBB accepted it.

I am absolutely disgusted and appalled that this company is still operating and backed by the BBB with such a rating. It is unacceptable what this company is doing.

As for the chairs that I am trying to get warranty service done on, they have laminate chipping off of the chairs in various spots, the seams where the wood has been joined and covered with laminate is cracking, and the cushins have scratches on them. These chairs are part of a table that had to be replaced a year after purchase for the very same reasons and yet I am told that the issues are due to excessive use. Absurd!

They screwed over my daughter too. The first furniture she ever bought (a large expensive armoire) was chipped by the movers when she moved, although none of us actually saw it happen and can't prove they were at fault.  The movers denied liability. She submitted a claim to Guardsman, who denied the claim because she didn't report it within five days. Well, the chip was on a back corner piece that wasn't visible until the cable guy moved it to install some wiring.

I guess she's lucky that the large chip (about 4" in diameter) is really not noticeable, but it sure was an eye-opening experience for her!

Guardsman has a lousy rep and I would never purchase their warranty after all the complaints here on ROR.
