The Gunsmiting only sold me a 1996 Browning A-5 Light Twelve Shotgun through Auction Arms website associated with the NRA.  They seemingly misrepresented the item for sale.  The advertised the gun as "near perfect" yet when I took dleivery I found a hairline crack in the forend of this particular shotgun.  Gunsmithing Only refused to refund my $845 after only 5 days in my possession.

I concluded that there could be only three instances that the gun's forend could be cracked:

1)  It was cracked when the seller placed it for auction on line.

2) It cracked during shipment.

Now if it was cracked when the seller placed it up for auction we must ask if they knew it?  If they didn't then I question the 40 years experience the gunsmith claims to have since he didn't see the crack.

Or the gunsmith knew the crack was present and misrepresented the gun on the auction site.

In eiter of the two cases above, the seller was obligated to refund the $845.00 to me.  Furthermore, since the seller adamantly denies the first instance, it promotes a further conclusion:

The firearm's forend cracked during shipment.

If this were the case, the shipper is responsible for filing a claim, not the consignee.  Shipper refused to file the claim and denied me a refund.

All this leads me to believe this "Gunsmithing Only" has cheated me out of $845 since a cracked forened on a 1966 A-5 Light Twelve Shotgun significanly reduces the value of the gun.

Anyone who buys from this company, all I can say is; "caveat emptor" , because I was Ripped Off!

False Accusations

It appears to me that there is no limit to what this gentleman will do. He has misrepresented myself and my small business more than once, and I suppose yet once again I will have to rebut his falsehoods.

This gentleman purchased a firearm via a reputable online gun auction site in March of this year. As soon as he bid on the firearm, he immediately began making stipulations as to his purchase (a bid once made is an agreement to buy) and it became clear to me that this was not going to be a smooth transaction. He won the auction and it took prodding from us eight days later to receive payment. The firearm was promptly shipped, priority insured via USPS, to the firearms licensee he designated. He left positive feedback as to his experience with us on the auction site prior to receiving the item. He waited a full THREE WEEKS to pick up his purchase from his dealer. A week after that, he contacted us demanding a refund, claiming a crack in the stock.

First of all, the terms and conditions to which he agreed when he signed up for the auction site clearly, CLEARLY state that the buyer has three days from the time the item reaches his/her dealer to fully inspect it for damage or problems and receive a full refund, no questions asked. Three days. Not four weeks. Secondly, the item was NOT damaged prior to shipment and I very carefully package everything I ship to avoid damage in transit. Thirdly, it is the responsibility of the RECEIVER, not the shipper, to report damage incurred in transit because they have possession of the item and therefore evidence of this damage.

The damage he claimed was there (proof or pictures of which he never provided to anyone), IF it was there, could have been incurred at any time during those four weeks after it left my control. I refused to accept responsibility for something I knew had not occurred during my watch, and which, if the damage was there, had to have been caused by any one of a number of people in any number of places between my business and his home.

He filed a chargeback, NOT having to provide proof of this alleged damage, which in turn forced me to provide proof that it had NOT been damaged during its stay here. The credit card company agreed with me and denied the chargeback. Any consumer or business owner knows how rarely the credit card companies side with the business versus the consumer. They were certain that I had handled the matter in as professional and honest a manner as possible in this situation, over half a continent away, without being able to have visual proof of any wrongdoing on my part.

It is my opinion that this man had buyer's remorse from the beginning of the purchase and therefore made it as difficult as possible to provide a smooth transaction and transfer of this firearm. He was insulting, condescending, and dishonest in describing the way I handled myself, my business, and the item he purchased. His report is nothing more than a smear on my name and my business' reputation. It is certainly within my rights and capabilities to sue him for defamation of character and fraud if he continues to spread outright lies about me in the future.
