H. H. Gregg Warranties Dept. Not honoring TV warranty ripoff Indianapolis Indiana
I am writing this on behalf of my brother Keith.
From the Rip Off Reports I have been reading, it sounds like he has the same problem. He has the original 5-year Warranty Certficate from H.H.Gregg purchased 2/14/2002.
He called repair service because the picture was jumping around and also the Wave 3 channel logo was burnt into the TV in the righthand corner. No matter what channel you went to, you could see this logo. The repair service came out on 1/12/2007 and said that 3 tubes per burnt out. It is going to cost over $800 to fix the TV.
Since we bought the warranty from HH Gregg in 2002, they now no longer do warranties and GE is taking care of this. When GE was contacted they say they do not cover picture tubes in the contract. How can we have one contract that says there is a 5-year picture tube warranty on all parts and labor and now it is not covered just because someone else took it over. In my opinion, HH Gregg should be responsible for either replacing the TV or fixing it. We have the warranty certificate that states this. When we bought this protection plus policy, it was from HH Gregg and not GE. It is also odd, since we have had these problems, one day in the mail from HH Gregg came a form "Request to Cancel Maintenance Agreement" that they want us to fill out and return to their Warranties Department in Indianapolis. We will not fill this out -- sounds like this form would release them from their obligations.
