H Wayne Graves steeling retainer fee/no contact/no court filing 6 months , Johnson City Tennessee
atty. never filed paperwork for 6 months. He said he didn't have the retainer fee to return. I fired him by certified mail and said I would p/u a check and files. He mailed my files and said he didn't owe me my retainer fee. He never did anything. I found out he lost his license in 95 or 96 and his office on Sunset drive. He was found guilty doing Coke. Since I retained him In October he has done but sit on his butt and steel peoples money as I told him. If he earned it, I wouldn't mind paying it. He know the situation I'm in and still refusing to return my money. I've had no running water for two years and trying to get a divorce. It's sickening to think you have finally found someone to fight for you and get a thief and deadhead. Others have told me the same. God forbid if anyone else had paid him a retainer. Fight for it like I intend to do. He thinks because I have no money, I can't fight him. Little does he know, I might be poor, but not stupid. Call the Profession Board of Responsibility and Ethics. They can give you an ear full.
I need a good atty to fight for me in this unconscionable living condiction. It is illigal in TN to steel a retainer fee even if it is written in a contract. A retainer means the same. A deposit is questionable. I tried for 3 days in a row to reach him in December of 08. I never got a return phone call and these were emergency calls. the bank would forclose on the land I'm living on. I got an angle to my rescue. I prayed hard. When I finally got him to answer my calls in March, his live-in girlfriend/secretary said it was purgery on my part. She's just as sick as him of course. I could hear her in the background.
So now I'm fighting to get my money back that is rightfully due me and so I can obtain a real attorney that will fight for me so I can get what's due me from my so called husband. In the meantime I'm still living in these terrible condictions. Can anyone help me find an attorney that can resolve these problems for me?
Get the word out on Graves. He only gets the pickings for other attorneys for people like me who don't have the larger retainer fee to pay. I paid him 1,080.00 which my elderly mother insteaded I take $500 and I had to take a $600 cash advance, which I'm still paying for on my credit card. How much worse can some be to steel that and a person down and under. God help him.

My report on Wayne about my dealings with him in 2005 and 2006 was just like yours, he promised me the moon and gave me ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. My case was lost because of him and my recourses lost as well. My report is at:

He has lost his license twice, in the mid 90's and in 2006. He operates out of his home, for whatever reason. His 2006 disciplinary suspension (Failure to help and report to clients) is here:

To be fair, I honestly thought that some people who know him were telling me the truth when they said to me last year that he was trying to fly right, but your complaint was from the same timeframe. I don't know you, I DO, however, know them. They say that Wayne did get in trouble a few times but he was really trying. God will weed them out at the end with HIS perfect righteousness.
I agree, God help him, but I mean it in a real way. May he find Christ- and himself- and keep trying to fly right.
I hope you were able to pick up the pieces... I wasn't able to. I've been slandered and homeless for 5 years, running for my life now because of death threats from the area that Wayne lives in.

The so called report above is full of lies. My mistake was trying to help this lady out witha small nonrefundable retainer. I was NOT found guilty of doing coke. I NEVER had an office on Sunset Drive and DID NOT lose my license. This lady's alimony was a few days late and she called and talked to my assistant. I had been severly injured in an accident and could not return her call that day. She called while I was having surgery, under general anesthesia, and OF COURSE, I could not talk. After I recuperated, I tried to call her and she would not return my call. I tried to finish her case and would have done an excellent job but she refused to meet with me or communicate with me. Needless to say, Banks do not forclose on real estate because of a three day delay in payment. I have represented HUNDREDS of Clients in these types of matters. I wanted to help this lady. My girlfriend even gave her clothes to wear from my home. No good deed goes unpunished. Some people are simply beyond help. When you work the general public, you must do your best work and be honest. Running into people like this is inevitable. Anyone can verify the above. Please read her imaginary figments with a grain of salt. Thank you for letting me respond.
