Used car dealerships always (or almost always) charge whatever they darn well please for a car. The name of the game is negotiation. What kind of research did you do before going there??? You can go to Kelly blue book online and figure out what kind of price range there is for the car you want to buy. Also you can go to the credit union or bank and have them do it. From there you negotiate with the dealer to lower it. If they don't lower it you walk, its as simple as that. The price they offered you once you left is probably about what they paid for the car to begin with (that gives you some idea of the profit margin). Next time you decide you want to buy a used car do your research first. If you go in armed with that info you can negotiate with the salesman (and/or his management). It help also if you have a pre-approved loan check or something of that nature as well. Just say that is all you want to pay and thats all there is to it. Better luck next time.
