The HawaiianMiles program is a scam:  While this airlines does not have a problem to tell you their price in Dollars ($ 13.44  for 500 miles  or  $ 1,344.-  for  50,000 miles)  if  you were to purchase them,  they  won't  disclose how much  they  are worth if  you wish to  use them for an upgrade:

The  upgrade vom HNL to PHX  can either cost you 25,000 miles or  twice as much: 50,000 miles  (for 50,000 miles you would have to spend  $ 50,000 with your Bank of America Hawaiian Airlines Credit card....).  I  called  them  about  100 different times in order  to get  a  "standard upgrade",  always with the same answer" -  Sorry,  the  standard upgrades are gone,  you will have to pay "Double Miles".   Where does the fraud start -  when 20% of the seats are made available  for the standard price or only 1%  or  only  1 in a million ????

Any  buyer of  a lottery  ticket  gets some sort  of  information about the odds of  winning,  I  believe  that  this  kind of  disclosure has to be made by  law.  Instead of  telling  "Hawaiian Miles"  owners "The upgrade will cost you 50,000  miles and  once a  while  we  pick a  lucky  passenger who has to pay only 25,000"   HA  makes it appear as if  a  passenger can expect to get an upgrade for 25,000 miles  which is almost impossible.

In  regards  to  award flights, HA  also deceives  passengers:  their website states

"NEW !   Combined Dollar /  Miles  flights ...."   explaining that one way can be paid using Hawaiian Miles and the other  way  by paying dollars.  What they don't  mention is that  this is only possible  for domestic flights.  My  letters  in  regards  to  this  issue  have been  ignored,  they  are  aware of  this  and  still leave this  kind  of  false advertising on their  website  without  making the  restrictions clear.
