In November of 2004, I purchased a complete bedroom set which cost over four thousand dollars. I also purchased the Stainsafe warranty for 259.00. When the furniture was delivered, the deliveryman damaged the top of the chest, putting a clearly visible chip on a corner. In addition to this, the bed was missing two of the four large wooden ball-shaped finials. The deliveryman said that he'd forgotten to put them on the truck and he'd return with them.

Haynes was supposed to fix the chest and deliver the finials as soon as possible. In early January, after numerous phone calls, Haynes finally sent four finials in a Walnut stain. My furniture is Ash. Again, more phone calls were made, I even went back and talked to my salesman. He referred me to one person who referred me to another and on and on it went. Finally, around April of 2005, I received a package in the mail from Haynes.

This package contained small metal finials. I made another visit to Haynes to explain again in person what was wrong with my furniture. Again, I was passed along repeatedly and again the problem still was not solved.

After about a week my wife received a phone call from the Va Beach customer service dept. The woman said that the small metal finials are actually the ones that belong on our set.

The woman was informed that the metal finials not only do not belong on our bed, but that they do not even fit on it. My wife was told that the manufacturer of this furniture no longer makes my bed and so they cannot locate the correct finials.

How is that my fault? What am I supposed to do with an incomplete bed?!! It's become a constant source of irritation for me. Clearly Haynes is either the most inept bunch of village idiots that ever walked the planet or they are knowingly deceptive and fraudulant.

It seems as though a reputable company would have made every attempt to ensure that their faulty product was corrected quickly and painlessly for the consumer. This is by no means over for me and it isn't over for Haynes either.

In July, a stainsafe person finally came over to fix my chest of drawers.
