I purchased a product called Renew Essence Step 4 Hair Serum for $30 at a local beauty supply store.  I washed and conditioned my natural (no chemical in my hair) hair with my usual products, which I have used for over 6 months now (Paul Mitchell brand) and towel-dried my hair.  I put the serum in my hair and gently combed a little of my hair across the upper corners of my face and let my hair air-dry overnight.  I woke up with a throbbing pain in the corners and looked in the mirror.  My face was protruding in those areas that the hair laid on my face and very large bubble-like puss area was there.  It was over 4 inches long and 1 1/2 inch wide!! It was a Sunday and my doctor's office was closed.  My husband said it looked like a chemical burn. I popped the bubble-thing with a tiny needle and water-like substance drained down the side of my face.  When I wiped it, all of my skin came off in the area.

I immediately contacted the beauty supply store that I purchased it from and they didn't hesitate to refund my money and were "shocked" at the photo of the bubble-thing and even took a picutre of my face in the skin-less condition.

I went to the dotor's office and was given prescribed ointment for the burn and was informed that there is no guarantee that the scar may or may not be permanent.

I then called HCS Hair Care - NXS Beauty Supply (the name on the bottle as the manufacturer) and left a message with them to please return my call so I could ask them what chemical was in product that is may not be mentioned on the label.  I even told them where I purchased it. No one returned my call.  I found a website and emailed them.  No one responded.  Three days later, I searched the internet and found another phone number (949)724-1721 and spoke with a man who initially refused to give his name, then gave it as Chris Li and when I politely told him my name, he said "Oh, I heard of you...you are the troublemaker in Texas and I'm just going to let you know that there is nothing I am going to do about the chemical".  I didn't even get a chance to say anything other than my name.  He was rude and defensive before I even spoke.  I asked him why he called me a troublemaker and he said that he already spoke to the owner of the beauty supply place and she told him that I got a refund.  Obviously, she was concerned about products on her shelf and contacted him.  I told him that I am calm, not accusing him or his company of anything and that if he was to get a burn on his face, then I'm sure he, too, would contact the manufacturer to make sure the product had safe ingredients in it...especially not hiding something like formaldahyde in it without letting consumers know.  He said "there is nothing I can do for you" and hung up.

I just want to voice my experience with this company and the suffering that I am enduring from their product.
