I got a charge on my phone bill last January for $20 for a service I'd never heard of. I called QWEST and got the bill adjustment. I just got my latest phone bill and there was another $20 charge and so I called QWEST again. This time they told me to contact the company directly and talk to them first which I did. I was so mad by this time I was breathing fire.  They verified my name, address etc. until they got to my.  The birth date they had on file was for a person in their teens, I'm in my sixites. I asked them how they verified the information and they said they had the customer's mother's maiden name. I asked what it was and they said they couldn't give it to me because it was confidential. I gave them my mothers maiden name and told them that if it wasn't what they had on file it wasn't me.  They suggested that one of my children might have opened the account, to which I replied that my that neither one of my sons had the birth date given on the account,they are 34 and 30 respectively. They promised to cancel the account immediately. I wound up getting them to agree to cancel all the charges and they gave me a cancellation number.  I immediately called QWEST billing and reported what I had done along with the cancellation number.  I"m in wait and see mode but in the meantime I'm going to call the state Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and the Public Utility Commissioner. If they don't follow through, I'll keep calling them until their sorry they ever got an 800 number, I also plan to pass what I've learned to everyone I know and posting the information on my Facebook and My Space page.

I just got an email from the Florida BBB. They have notified Headwinds Media that a complaint has been filed.  If they don't do what they promised, I have been encouraged to file another complaint

Since yesterday when I filed my original report I have taken some steps that I promised myself I would.
1.I got all the contact  information I could find on Headwind Media Inc.

2. I contacted the  State Attorney General's Office and filed an email consumer questionable business practices alert complaint using the information above.
3. I contacted my state Better Business Bureau online, entered the above information, was linked to the Florida Regional office and filed a questionable business practices complaint. Consumer complaints can be filed even if the business is not accredited by the BBB.
 If the problem is not resolved in two billing cycles and the charges are not refunded and the account closed, I will call them back and let them know that complaints have been filed with the above agencies.
