I received a call, Towards the beginning of Sept. 2007, stating that because I had been paying my taxes on time, that I was to receive a $1,000 grant from the IRS. The gentleman even claimed to be a part of the government, so that is, I assumed, why he already had my banking information. I was never informed that any money was going to be removed from my account. I thought it suspicious, but did not think about it in detail until I hung up the phone with him.
Then on 09-06-07 I was charged for $29.95 to NHS Autopay, however, did not catch this until I realized on 9/20/2007 the same company had withdrawn $299.95 from my account. When I called the bank, I was given the company name and phone number, and proceeded to call them. I was not able to reach them until the next day, but continued to ask that the account be closed and that I receive a refund of the money that was withdrawn.
I was told that the account was closed and that my request for a refund would be escalated. I had the request escalated a total of 2 times and both times I was told that I had supposedly authorized that transaction and there fore was not entitled to a refund. This transaction caused a s****.>
