I am currently an Herbalife Independent Distributor, only practicing in this business for about 6 months. I am a skeptic to begin with, but the products sell themselves. They work, they're great, and that is what herbalife does, makes great products. As for the get-rich-quick mentality that most people who decide to join have, thats nonsense to think you'll become an overnight millionaire!! This is a legitimate business opportunity to retail Herbalife products. Being a business owner does not mean that you have to make your own products, thats an ignorant perception of a business owner. Herbalife distributors are retailers of the products, just as Macy's or any dept. store or a deli retails Coca-cola or designer clothing. It's not a pyramid scheme because it would not be a member of the NYSE...duH! A pyramid scheme does not last for over 20 years either...duh! As with any business, there are shady distributors who use bad tactics to bring in potential recruits. Those are the individuals giving an entire company a bad rep...and its not fair to Herbalife or the rest of the honest people who really want to introduce the products to their community for betterment of health. Distributors do their own marketing because we are running our own business, it IS your own business. You do what you wish, when you wish. If your upline does not teach you well, or you happen to disagree with the way they do business, do what feels right for you. They are a guide, not your boss, idiots! I dont listen or do half the things my upline suggests. Its my business, its done my way at my own pace. I'm not brainwashed, I'm not a herbot...I'm a retailer of herbal based products..If you come into such a business with your sights set on a quick million, you need to get your head out of the clouds! Every business has their negative and positive, do your research and make informed decisions. Bye

I'm also a distributor and I'm appalled at some of the tactics used by these separate "marketing organizations". Nobody needs to join one of these groups or spend money on any of their stuff. You do not need to get two websites. You do not need to pay for slots on an advertising/leads "wheel". You do not need touchphone. You do not need to pay for membership in a "business center". You do not need to spend more than about $60 to become a distributor. You do not need to sit on "training" phone calls several times a week or spend big bucks going to "trainings" which are mostly pep rallies. You can be an Herbalife Distributor and do business in your own way, spending only the minimum amount of money required. Herbalife is actually a good company these days, with some excellent products. It's a shame these marketing groups have to give it a bad name. Most of the things they are doing are now prohibited by Herbalife's rules.

I am an independant distributor with Herbalife. There is one thing that many do not realize. There are always two separate entities with most home-based businesses, the company and the support systems. Most of the time, the support systems, of which, there are many associated with Herbalife, sell programs much higher than what the company requires. I was brought in for a $199 plan. They strongly push the 4,000 volume order, which costed about $3100, but we did not have the funds. I found out, all I was really required to do was $49.95 plus shipping, handling, and packaging, which totals just shy of $63.00. These support systems create packages, at higher amounts, so their distributors can make profits off the initial recruiting of a new member, with the products. By the way, a qualified supervisor will make about $320 in overrides for each new supervisor brought in. The only thing the company requires is $49.95 for a Mini-Internation Business Pack. The support systems almost always are the true reasons people feel ripped by a MLM. I have created my own support system, because the thought of ripping off and lying to people makes me sick.

If your "sponsor" did not tell you that all it takes to become and Herbalife Distributor is to purchase the mini IBP and return the paperwork, then they are in violation of Herbalife's rules, and you should report them. It sounds like your sponsor is a real jerk, if he/she is not even interested in training you or helping you make money. What a bizarre attitude! Did you buy your inventory directly from Herbalife, using your own distributor ID? Or did you buy from your sponsor? If you bought directly from Herbalife, they do indeed have a record of your purchases, and they will take the merchandise back and refund your money if you choose to quit your distributorship. You should be able to log onto Myherbalife.com and look at your account at any time, as well as read these policies. If you bought your inventory from someone else -- how did you get credit? You should be at supervisor level at this point, with that amount of inventory.
