mortgage was purchased by HFC when Transamerica folded. They promised me a better rate to refinance with them. In June 2001 I went to them again as interest rates were low to refinance and get monies to pay real estate taxes. Prior to that I had received letters that in applying and removing payments errors were made and I owed them over $5000 due to this.

I could send them a check then or it would just be added to the end of the loan. I called and the customer service rep could not exactly explain why but I did owe it. Then in 2001 when I went to them for a lower

interest rate I was told a month later after I had to talked to them, they only could refinance at same rate, no monies for property taxes and my payments would be higher with the "interest short" being added in. I then went to Newcastle Mortgage and was approved with them but when they called HFC for payoff it was 12,000 to 15,000 more than my monthly statement showed as a balance. I called the dept of finance in MO and they were no help,

all HFC did is send me a "unknown language" piece of paper with figures on it that was to tell me where the interest short was. Then when I called HFC about the discrepancy in the payoff and my balance on my statements they acted so relieved as they had been "trying to get in touch with me" as they didn't want to lose a good customer like me, and offered me a lower interest loan,

that was in December 2001. I went into the office and looked at the mountain of new papers and showed the consultant Stephanie my statement and asked why it was about $15,000 more and she said that it had to be wrong

she had to check into it. She then stopped my EZ pay and it was about 15 to 20 days later that I heard back and she showed me papers where they previous year when I had signed up for the EZ pay about Feb and I got the

papers and they were going to take out two full payments a month instead of 1/2 of payment and then 1/2 of payment a month and I called and said that was wrong and they said then would correct it and they never took out

payments for months, the money just sat in my bank and I kept calling and calling and they would say we'll catch you next time.

Finally I got a call and they woman named Margo (like mine) said they were going to forclose and I explained the money is in my bank and I had been trying to get them

take it out. She took check by phone payments and I had to sign new EZ pay papers and fax back. She apologized and said I was caught up.

Shortly after that I got the $5000+ error letter. Any way that was why I was interest short from that period of time. Meanwhile the Chicago office started sending me forclosure letters as Stephanie had stopped the EZ pay

>trying to get the new loan figured out. So in January 2002 I signed the new loan papers with approx $15,000 interest short added on taking my balance from approx $106,000 to $122,000, with her promise that she

could get a equity line that I could pay my property taxes before the county took my house in August 2002. I called and called to no avail. Finally I went

>to the office and she called the forclosure dept and they paid taxes and said I would get a payment schedule for them. Then October 2002 I got a overnight letter saying I had 5 days to pay the taxes. When I called

the person on the letter he said what they could probably do is manipulate may payments to go on the taxes and I said once again in the future I would be "interest short" again and he said yes. At that time I had to declare

Chapter 13. They have destroyed me mentally, financially, and physically.

I have had nothing but continuing illnesses since the whole nightmare. The loan I signed with the "interest short" was referred to as a 143 Promo and they could do 5 in Dec 2001 and 3 in Jan 2002, so there are others

like me out there. I have documents in large cardboard boxes. everything I have sent and rcvd from them. I am not the best credit risk person as things have happened in the past, but they have pretty well destroyed me. My

american dream has turned into an american nightmare. Margo Major 6464 Tide Water Drive Florissant, MO 63033 phone home 314-741-0515, work 314-851-3366

PS I am now on disability with the state of Missouri and am going to have to surrender the house as there was problems with my disability checks and I got behind in the payments. They offered a hardship loan paper then in a week later I got the letter from Beatrice Allen Bankruptcy Specialist extension 6858 that I am behind $2965.91 which is true, but I have Lupus, COPD, RA and other illnesses that have been worsened by worrying about this all the time. I think I gave up on life when they added the $15,000 interest short under prop143 or they would forclose then. I hate them with every fiber of my being.
