Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We were over charged $5,734(actually $7,434 because we were to get a $1,700 credit for not having to clear our lot) and the time we were to give Holiday Builders our last payment. We paid cash so it is our life savings Holiday Builders is messing with. We did not know of the over charge until the last payment when they knew 4 months earlier that they were going to charge us more.

We know of another who was over charged by Holiday but they paid it because it was only $1,000. It has come to our attention that it has become a common practice among some builders in Florida after speaking with three attorneys.

The dirt under our home settled two inches(per a report from and independent structural engineer)causing major cracking in our slab and outside walls.

Our foundation rebar was exposed and Holiday attempted to do a repair which their engineer does not warranty and was not approved by the Charlotte County Building Department. In fact, the building department has taken action against Holiday for five code violations.

The slab was to be 3 1/2 inches thick and after doing core drilling not one of he slugs was the code thickness. There is also a 1 7/8 dip in the middle of our house.

When I talked with Richard Hawkes, the owner of Holiday Builders, he said he did not want to know what is wrong with my house until I pay up.

appears that the delay was at corperate and not the Port Charlotte Division.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

After looking at this and having been an employee of the Holiday, I can say that this is not the only time that this has happened. Holiday's problems go much deeper and are entrenched. Many simple to fix issues conspired here. The results are poor quality homes. In this particularcase, Holiday did agree to build a brand new home, of the same model, in the same area for them and they are happy for now. It's a shame that it took 22+ months for Holiday to come to this conclusion, but it appears that the delay was at corperate and not the Port Charlotte Division.
