Holiday Inn & Suites Holiday Inn & Suites Barboursville -- Hotel Thefts Barboursville West Virginia
I stayed at this Holiday Inn & Suites August 1- 4, 2008 while my son was playing in a little league baseball tournament in a nearby town. The hotel seemed very nice at first. It was new and there were several other families staying there whose teams were from all over the southeast. My baseball mom gave me $600 in
cash raised through fundraisers so that the parents could pay for hotel rooms. I had spent approximately $200 of the money prior to a theft that occurred in my
hotel room on Saturday August 2nd. There were several other thefts of valuables during that weekend as well. I informed the Hotel front desk that $420.00 had been stolen from my room. They were very nice at first. I later found out that this was only a stall tactic. They gave me the Hotel Manager's name, who was always
gone or unavailable. I finally filed a police report. After finally getting in touch with the Hotel Manager, he told me that he would have to conduct an investigation and that he would be back in touch with me. I contacted the Hotel on several occassions and even contact Holiday Inns corporate office. They stalled and delayed. Holiday Inn Corporate told me that there was nothing that I could do and they referred me back to the local Holiday Inn. I have asked for the owner of the Hotel since this was an individually owned Holiday Inn. The staff and the Manager are very careful not to give out the owner's name.
I will never stay at another Holiday Inn. If you are in the Huntington W.V. area, do yourself a favor and stay away from this hotel. I talked to several other families who were staying at the hotel that weekend and they also had been the victim of theft. There were several police reports filed.
