Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On 8/8/20 I went to Hollywood Nails of Brookside to get my nails done like I have done for at least the last 10 years. Tulsa has a mask mandate that includes a medical exemption to wearing masks, and I can't wear masks.  I had been to the salon at least 4 times to get my nails done during this mandate, and all I had to do was whisper to the Boss Lady (that's her title) that I couldn't wear masks and had a medical exemption.

On 7/30/20, previous to the incident, she decided to do my nails herself, which hasn't ever happened.  She proceeded to ask me multiple questions about my private health information and she told me she needed to tell her other customers why I wasn't wearing a mask.  I tried to explain in simple terms that I couldn't wear one, but she kept grilling me for more private medical information.  After she was done doing that, she finished polishing my nails and sent me to a tech to finish up with some decorative flowers on my nails.  I left, paid my $30.  I had no reason to believe I couldn't return at any time to get my nails done again.

On 8/8/20, I went back again to get my nails done. Once again I whispered to her that I had a medical issue and couldn't wear masks per the medical exemption of the mask mandate.   She then proceeded to discuss my medical issue with her client she was working on, and kept asking me to try different masks.  Then she sent employees who made a scene, got up in my space, weren't distancing, and publicly made a scene until various other clients in the business got irritated, angry and began screaming at me to GET OUT!

I had been sitting in my seat waiting my turn just like I had done previously for the last 10 years, at least, and that includes that last 4 visits where there was a mask mandate w/medical exemptions where I had no problem receiving nails services. The management grilled me about my private health information, then discussed and shared it with other customers and staff. They then proceeded to harass, intimidate, & humiliate me causing me much anxiety and fear, and nearly caused a riot of the customers who were present.  I was treated w/discrimination and contempt because I had a medical issue, and I'm REALLY upset. I wasn't doing anything to harm anyone there. Everyone had masks on protecting themselves, & I was distancing.  I was following the mandate which granted medical exemptions to wearing masks.  I was NEVER asked to leave, never refused service, either.

I'm hearing impaired and can't understand the majority of what people say through masks and I often have to rely on reading lips as best I can to go with the sounds I do hear. So, if anyone mumbled anything at all thru those masks in regards to me leaving, I wouldn't be able to understand it unless they came closer to me and spoke slowly and clearly.  They know I'm hearing impaired and wear hearing aids, too.

I posted a complaint on their business site FB page (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=3341777859217349&id=793388384056322), but all I'm getting in response is I should have left when they all got upset, and I'm silly and immature for complaining. They also began a second thread on the subject (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=3341777859217349&id=793388384056322).

I don't appreciate them grilling me over my medical information, discussing it publicly to the point that it stirred up a room full of women to create a moblike environment.  I'm so disgusted with how I was treate by this business.  All I want is to be treated like a valued customer even though I have a medical issue and can't wear a mask.  I don't know what else to do. I had no reason to believe me returning to this business would end up in a mob scream session.

I have asthma and I wear a MASK so what is your excuse?? I work in a Nursing/Rehab facility and have to wear a mask so what is your excuse?? How pathetic can you be to subject others to this virus because you refuse to wear a MASK.  How selfish that you have to get your nails done but refuse to acknowledge the health and well being of the staff and other customers because of your refusal to wear a MASK!

Just beyond words at this point. Nails are not essential - I suggest you go and volunteer to help those exhausted nurses, techs, Drs, Social Workers (like me) and other frontline workers who would probably kill to get  a chance to get pampered after dealing with this virus. Selfish is what you are.

You are aware that there ARE medical exemptions to wearing masks, right?  Not everyone can wear a mask, and I'm one of them.  My health issue with wearing a mask is not up for debate.  Everyone in the establishment had a mask on and were protecting themselves.  I'm not responsible to protect anyone else.

I was given services at this salon repeatedly during this mask "mandate W/medical exemptions" previous to this incident, and all I had to do was whisper to the manager that I have a medical exemption AND have never worn a mask there or anywhere else because I CAN'T wear masks.  At no time was I informed that I couldn't come back and receive the same services.  I WAS grilled by management asking for information about my private medical issues and she told me she wanted to tell her customers my medical information as to why I was not wearing a mask.  I was mistreated because I have a medical issue, and that is discrimination.

If masks work, and everyone was wearing one, I'm doing ZERO harm to anyone. I returned for normal salon services and management discussed my medical issues with other people, including the lady she was working on at the time. I shouldn't have to repeat myself over and over again, "No thank you, I can't wear a mask."

I'm the woman who was harassed, intimidated, attacked, had my medical information discussed, and humiliated publicly just because I have a medical issue.  So, YES ... really!  I'm going to complain.  Some of us get sick if we put on a mask, and I'm not risking MY health to do so, either.
