Me and my family(my wife and 2 sons, went to Honda of Downtown LA to lease Civic LX 2012 on November 5th 2012.

I met Jae Sung who is one of sales persons and tried to deal with a car price. And then I negotiated with Tony, a sales manager, and finally he brought the price, $205 + 2 years maintenance for free after $1000 down. I paid $1205 by my credit card for the downpay and the first month of payments. I have the receipt. A finance director gave me a contract paper and told me to sign the paper.

They did not give me a time to review and no one explained the contract to me at all.

1 week after they called me and asked me to come over because VIN on the contract is wrong so I have to resign the contract. So I went there and resigned it.

Also no explanation and review were given at that time.. I asked Jae Sung it is $205 and he said yes. I trust them.

2 weeks after from that day, I got a bill and it comes with $279 instead $205. so I checked up my contract and there was $279 on that contract. so I went to Honda again and asked them about the contract. they said they can't change the contract because I signed the paper. I told them "you changed the contract because you made mistake the VIN, why not this time?" they ignored me and they said I have to pay whatever the contract said.

they said they can't change the contact because the loan is already funded but I talked with a representative at Honda financial service and she said it is possible to change the contract.

Also I figured out $205 that I paid for the first month of payments was gone to the 2 years maintenance service. They made me like I bought the 2years maintenance service. It is supposed to be given to me for free.

I kept telling them (General Manager Joseph Juliano and Joe Shuster) about it and they ignored me. Tony, the sales manager, kept said he does not remember or he does not know. But Jae Sung was next me and told Tony and the general Managers the
deal was true and confirmed the deal was $205 and 2 year maintenance for free but they ignored him and me.

I used Korean during the deal with the sales person Jae Sung, so they must to provide Korean contract by the law. However they did not provide Korean contract (no review or explanation), did not give me a due bill or other documents. I only have the long contract paper and the receipt that shows I paid $1205 for downpay and the first month of payments. Thats it.

I did not know what to do so I went to other Honda dealer in Glendale and I met Helen Park( sales consultant) and told her everything about this situation and she said that does not make any sense and I got ripped off for $75 every month and it is not possible for a big company to make this contract.   She gave me some advise that I have to return the car to the Downtown dealer and tell any manager at the dealer that I am ripped off and I cant pay $279 and I will explain this
situation to the Honda financial service. I did what Helen Park told me to do on December 9 2012.

Whenever I went to the dealer (about 10 times during one month and spend so much time to fix this thing by myself but they ignored me, and I called them so many times and left message so many times but I have got no return call), Tony, Joseph Juliano and Joe Shuster were so mean to me and treat me with bad attitude.  I compared the 2 contracts. The VIN on the first Contract is CIVIC EX and the monthly payment is $279.86 and the VIN on the second contract is CIVIC LX and the
payment is $279.00. The difference between EX and LX is 86 cents. Does not make any sense at all.  My insurance company told me it is EX not the dealer. I have a good credit score 750+. I went to other dealer and I could get $205 monthly payment which Downtown GM said its not possible.

Now the car is at the Honda downtown LA parking lot.

The original deal was $205 and free 2 years maintenance but they cheat on me for $75 on the monthly payment $279 and no free 2 years maintenance.  I could not find $1000 downpay  I paid on the contract.

I also asked them about College program, they said no. but I found out there are college programs on the Honda website that looks like cheaper than my deal.

Please help me .

I would like to return the car and the contract without penalty. I would like  to refund all the money I paid for if possible

You can contact all of your Local TV News Stations in your town and send them copies of the contracts and any other information regarding the transaction. Put it to the attention of 'Investigative Reporter'. Let them know that you are Korean and that you believe that you were taken advantage of due to your race.

There is a good chance that someone will contact you and do a story on TV in order to let other potential customers know how this Honda dealership operates when dealing with minorities.

Exposing the dealership on TV could cost the Honda dealership hundreds of thousands of dollars, and possibly millions, in lost sales in the months ahead. This might be enough for the dealership to let you out of the contract and give you all of your money back, in my opinion. You have nothing to lose, and perhaps everything to gain, by contacting all of your Local TV News Stations, correct?

Good luck to you.

If you can find a way to get a car dealer to let you out of a signed contract, please let us know how you did it.    People post here almost every day with the same problem.

  Good luck.

Car dealers routinely benefit from customers who do not bother to read contracts.   They feel safe in doing this because the contract is the final authority as far as the deal goes.   The purpose of the written contract is bypass all of the "He said..." and "I was told...".  It lays the deal out on paper and it doesn't matter who said what.  At least that's how judges see it.

They did not give me a time to review and no one explained the contract to me at all. "

Two things.   First, it is not anyone's job but your lawyer's to explain a contract to you.   If you do not understand the contract, then you should pay someone to explain it to you.  The other party in the contract has no obligation to explain anything to you.  They are not your counsel.     Second, how did they not give you enough time to review?   You are in control of that.   You just don't sign until you've had adequate time to review.

So I went there and resigned it. Also no explanation and review were given at that time.  "

So, now you've signed two contracts without reading them.   This isn't getting any better for you.

" They made me like I bought the 2years maintenance service. It is supposed to be given to me for free. "

I'll bite.   What does the contract say about the maintenance agreement.

"  I used Korean during the deal with the sales person Jae Sung, so they must to provide Korean contract by the law. "

What law is that?   If you speak Klingon with the salesperson, does the contract have to be written in Klingon?

"  I went to other Honda dealer in Glendale and I met Helen Park "

She is this dealer's competition.   What did you expect her to say about them?   She was blowing smoke, hoping that you'd buy your next car from her.  What she told you to do is ridiculous (as you found out the hard way).

I went to other dealer and I could get $205 monthly payment which Downtown GM said its not possible. "

Haven't you learned that this is what car dealers tell you, right before they hand you a contract with a higher amount.   Come on!   How many times are you going to take some car salesman's word for something!   The only thing that matters is what is printed on a contract.

" I would like to return the car and the contract without penalty.  "

Don't hold your breath.   They have a contract, signed by you, that says you agreed to pay the $279.  You have nothing but "They said..." and "I was told...".    A written contract binds you to whatever it says on that contract.     Your claims of what was negotiated do not bind anyone to anything.    The bottom line here is that you agreed (by signing) to a deal that you don't like.   There is not much you can do about that.    Most car dealers, in my experience, will try to take advantage of people who do not read contracts.   Actually, I have never bought a car where the dealer did not try to hide something in the contract.   It is standard practice in the industry.

You will likely need to hire an attorney to help you with this. Unfortunately, they have a signed contract with you. It doesn't matter what they said, you should have read the contract and refused to sign unless the terms were what was verbally stated. Lesson to be learned: Never sign a contract without reading it and understanding it.

Also, why must the contract be in korean?
