Honda & Isuzu issue a recall in September 2010 for lower link trailing brackets. That is not the problem with these vehicles as the rusted frame complaints with the National Highway Safety Administration date back to 2004. 1998-2002 Honda Passport & Isuzu Rodeo 149,992 vehicles were recalled and upon inspection the rusted frame became primary issue. The recall stated that in the rare event the corrosion is so severe that the reinforcement bracket remedy would not be appropriate, a repurchase offer will be extended to the owner.  It was not a rare event and just about all of these vehicles had a severely rusted frame and should not of been repaired.  Honda & Isuzu's response was they were only responsible for installing the recall brackets and the frame was the customer's problem. Only some customer's were offered the very low pay off for their vehicles. Many others were sent back on the road with a dangerous vehicle. Last year their was many fatal accidents involving these vehicles and they were not all in the 22 states that use salt. A grandmother and her 7 yr old grand daughter died in a fiery crash in Nevada as the frame broke away from the vehicle and she lost control of the vehicle. She never received a recall notice as it only involved the states that use salt in the winter months. Why is it then that the Southern states also have this rust issue and car crashes that has left children without their parents or a grandmother without her one & only grandson who was a all star college student and is gone at the age of 22. How is that the Honda's mission statement is all about customer safety and when it comes time to live up to that mission statement, they just don't care because they already got your money.  They used recycled steel and the wrong anti-corrosive on these frames. The right thing to do is to give the fair market value for these vehicles and have them destroyed so no one else looses their life is lost due to their negligence.  No money from either company, sue in small claims court and get something for a down payment on another car. Definitely do not buy a Honda!
