My experience with Hope Counseling made it very apparent that they care way more about taking money from those in need than actually solving their problems. I had received an OVI and went to Hope Counseling for a chemical dependency assessment as per my court's request. I spoke to Fred Stevens who owns Hope Counseling and he set me up with an assessment. I was assessed by an intern instead of a licensed therapist. I was told by the intern off the record that he did not think that I had a problem with substance abuse and that my problems appeared to be more attributed to mental health. I was then very surprised that even though I do not drink very often, Fred Stevens gave the suggestion of two separate kinds of therapy where I would need to pay through my insurance and out of pocket. The entire proposed treatment would have run me over $700 not to mention the driving intervention class he also pressured me to take. After Fred made it clear that he intended to make the treatment as expensive for me as possible and that he was not willing to work with me on the price, I went elsewhere. After going to another treatment center, the counselor recommended the mental health help that I needed. Stay away from Hope Counseling at all costs! They only care about money, not patients.
