Hotwire A foul smell of DECEIT a-foot San Francisco California
I booked a room using the phone with Hotwire on Monday, 3/2/15. This reservation was for a soccer tournament. I knew there was a chance the tournament would be cancelled due to weather, so I asked about a cancellation policy. I purchased an insurance policy for $8 and was told if the tournament was cancelled due to weather I would be able to cancel the room with this policy.
On Wednesday, 3/4/15, I got the notice that the tournament was cancelled. I called Hotwire to cancel, they said they could not cancel and sent me to Allianz Global, this is who holds their insurance. Allianz Global told me bad weather does not qualify, different from what I was told when I bought the policy. This is from Hotwire's website regarding the insurance I purchased "Trip Protection covers unexpected events such as medical emergencies, strikes, natural disasters and bad weather."
Next I called my credit card company to see if they could help me with not paying the bill. My CC company got me on the phone with Allianz, who after reviewing the fine print of their policy (which I was never sent until after this call) did not cover my situation. Again, this is not what I was told when I purchased the policy.
After this I tried to call Hotwire back, since they are the ones that gave wrong information that led me to make a purchase I would not have other-wise made. I was dropped from their holding queue 3 times before I realized I was not getting through.
This room is $158 for the room and $8 for the insurance policy. I was deceived by Hotwire and now cannot even got them on the phone. I should be reimbursed the $158 for the room since I purchased the insurance and was told this insurance would cover my situation.
