Household Finance is a fraudulent ripoff company. Excessive points & prepayment penalties. Budd Lake, New Jersey
My husband and I decided it was time to refinance our mortgage of $179,000 last year. In a nutshell, by the time we closed (our closing took place at 11:00 pm at our house and we told our broker to not bother to come it was too late). We were unaware of the 7.5 points ($15,000) or the 5 year prepay penalties.
We were only made aware of the prepay penalties when we tried to refinance again to get rid of HFC. By the time all was said and done we refinance for $225,000. We are unable to keep up with these payments and all attempts made to get an attorney were not positive.
We have notified the banking commission and talked to someone on the ACORN suit. We would like to get our $15,000 dollars back into the amount and bring down our balance and be able to refinance with a reputable company once again.(without $11,000 in prepay penalties)
