This is the complaint I sent to HSBC regarding their 1-800-975-HSBC Customer Service:

"How can you be of service to me?? THAT'S A GOOD ONE! This is my THIRD complaint today!!! I called 1800975HSBC, pressed option#2, then pressed option #1 and was directed to some woman who did not give me her name. I called today, 5/5/04 around 6:45pm, to find out what a Premium Money Market account was AND SHE WOULD NOT TELL ME!! She just told me it was a savings account!

Well, then I asked her "WHAT KIND OF SAVINGS ACCOUNT?" She would not tell me! She had absolutely no explanation as to what the difference was between a regular Savings account, CD account and a Pemium Money Market account. She just told me I was elidgible because I had a relationship account or personal checking account. So, I asked her again, "What is the DIFFERENCE between having a regular savings account and a Premium Money market account then?" There's absolutely no advantage!

The only thing was that you need a personal checking/ relationship account. What kind of a savings account is that?? Why can't I just open a regular savings account then? WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE?? She wouldn't tell me. She just kept repeating her answer and spoke to me like I was a moron! Who does she think she is?? How dare she. All she could do was try to make me sound like a fool or mock me. Good job!

Congratulations on being the number 1 bank to ruin relationships with your customers! YOU IDIOTS HAVE SOME NERVE!! I AM SO READY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! I AM NOT STANDING FOR THIS ANYMORE. I AM SO ANGERED BY THE WAY I'VE BEEN TREATED & DISRESPECTED BY THE DULLARDS THAT WORK FOR YOUR BANK AND I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE THIS ENDS! I HAVE BEEN FRUSTRATED ENOUGH BY YOU CARELESS, IDIOTIC, UNEDUCATED EMPLOYEES!

I have to notify someone, because I have already witnessed several other people's complaints towards you. Whether I go to the better business bureau, consumer protection, FCC or a newspaper... SOMETHING has to be done! Even though I am not an active customer, I still have accounts with you and it is terrible that even now I still get only dullards instead of expert advice. YOU PEOPLE ARE FOOLS!"
