My name is Derrick, My phone number is (((ROR redacted))). My account number is (((ROR redacted))). I was told to write this letter by the Ohio states attorney general as a the first process in filing a complaint. January 2006 my father Lonnie Parker passed away. In order to protect his estate I agreed to assume payments for one of his vehicles. While talking to a HSBC rep. I learned that the car was under warranty. Shortly after the paperwork was completed I gained possession of the car.

Shortly after gaining possession of the car I learned that the car had MAJOR problems including the needing a transmission. I immediately contacted HSBC to let them know the problem and was told that the vehicle was under warranty and to get an estimate and fax it back to them. I got the almost $3000.00 estimate and faxed it back, then I was told that there was no warranty on the vehicle. I was given a apology and I was told that there was nothing else that I could do except for to pay for all repairs out of my own pocket. So far since the car has been in my possession I have spent a total of $1893.33 in repairs alone, that does not include towing and paying the monthly note of $254.00 a month.

Last month I woke up one morning to go to work got in my car and put it in reverse and the car screamed, scaring the life out of me. I ended up paying a total of $446.00 including towing and was still late for work. The bad part about it is that I still owe almost $5000.00 on this vehicle and the blue book value on this vehicle, in this condition is less than half of that. HSBC did offer to defer one of my payments because of me having to make repairs to the car but that still doesnt seem fair to me the customer. I was led into thinking this vehicle had a warranty and it doesn't. If you look at my account at first glance you will clearly see that I have a warranty but they didn't bother to examine my account closely before transferring the car into my name. The total amount of repairs in the estimate far exceed the value of the vehicle. In the long run ill end up spending what I owe on the vehicle on repairs to the vehicle. Can a supervisor of some sort please contact me regarding this situation. Thanks

Derrick
