Hughes Corporate Headquarters - Hughes Network Systems - HUGHES - Hughesnet - Hughesnet Satellite - Hughes Communications Hughesnet is a scam Germantown, Maryland
I was not told about their 200MB a day download limit until after i signed the contract. Was without service on a pretty regular basis as 200MB will barely allow one to surf the web if there happen to be any of those moving ads on the page. This for almost $100 a month!
I contacted them on the 28th day of my 30 day trial period by email to let them know i wanted to cancel service, heard nothing back. Tried again a few days later, heard back immediately. They informed me that I was on my 31st day and would be subject to another month's charge plus an early termination fee of $400. I called their customer service and got a rep with a very heavy Indian accent who I could not understand at all, and who I am pretty sure could not understand me either. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was left on hold until my handset went dead....I don't know for sure how long.
I immediately disconnected all equipment, grabbed my other phone handset, and called my credit card company, who informed me that the second monthly charge had already been honored and I will now have to wait until it drafts and dispute the charge then.
My computer now has several connection issues, even though I reinstalled AOL and am using them instead of Hughes' service, caused apparently by the settings the installer set while he was setting up my account. He manually entered a new IP address, which so far I have had no success in repairing.
Hughesnet is a scam, plain and simple. I would not recommend them to anyone. AOL may be slow, but at least they are honest.
