Let me add a note here, First Carl the sales person involved here would never say these kind of things to a customer. He is probably one of the most honest salespeople I have ever known. His customer satisfaction index is always very high. From what I under stand this persons teenage daughter was the primary driver. A clutch and teenager's usually don't mix well. 70000 miles sounds pretty good to me. I no of no automotive manufacture that will warranty a clutch that is worn out or abused. Its foolish to think they will. As far as Hyundai , I have owned 2 and will not think twice about buying another one. If you follow the maintenance schedule's in the back of your owners manual they will bend over backwards for you. Any one that buys a car and thinks every bell and whistle is covered needs to check there owners manual. Normal wear and tear is not covered by anyone. And yes I sold hyundai's for 10 years and worked with Carl, my policy was never to lie and be honest. I was one of the top Hyundai Sales people in the nation. Rick

Why would they give a 100,000 mile warranty on a POS hyundai when everyone else is giving a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty except for some of those higher end vehicles that have a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty? Cause they know they aren't gonna honor it for some reason or other. Either they find a reason not to honor it or find a clause that you violated in the warranty itself. Many of them say you have to take the vehicle back to the dealer for each and every overpriced service throughout the warranty period, which in and of itself is probably illegal BUT that is what is required to keep the warranty in effect. MAYBE 1 or 2% of the people actually get to use the warranty on their vehicle, but the rest get turned down for one reason or another. As for having your vehicle towed, Lord, I pay FIVE DOLLARS EVERY SIX MONTHS, $10 per year, for towing and vehicle rental on my insurance policy. That includes being able to call and have the insurance company send someone out to change a tire or unlock the vehicle IF I lock my keys in the vehicle. I use one of those services at least twice or three times per year. They normally charge $60 and up for a tow, $35 and up to unlock your vehicle and $50 to change a tire. I have three vehicle so it costs me $30 per year for all three vehicles. As for your clutch, they're probably gonna call it a "wear" item, like the tires and wipers, an item that wears out so they aren't gonna cover it. As the other guy said, it's all written in your warranty that no one can understand and it doesn't matter what they TELL you, it's what's printed that matters, a hugh rip off.

Clutches are not normally covered under any new car warranty (except the short break in period). Your Buick or Chevy won't cover them either. Read the warranty. Hyundai Corp. is not ripping you off. Your clutch lasted for a reasonable period of usage. You should have taken your car to a company that specializes in clutch repair to receive a much better repair quote. It sounds more like Auffenberg Hyundai is a dealer to avoid, because their salespeople might have lied to you (never heard that one before), and their repair dept. is expensive.
