Improvements Catalog, HDI Connections ripoff consumer fraud Roanoke Virginia
On 10/16/02 I purchased a couple items from Improvements Catalog. I called in my order, fearing of submitting my credit card information online was not as safe.
At the end of my phone order, I was asked if I wanted to be enrolled with a membership. I specifically said NO, and insisted that I just wanted to order a couple items. I do not want any strings, don't want memberships whatsoever, which I don't need..... I thought things ended at that point.
Today I checked my credit card statement, I see a charge from HDI Connections 888-366-1305, a company I never heard of. I called HDI about the charges, HDI said that Improvements Catalog indicated that I wanted to enroll for their membership. HDI therefore charge me with a membership enrollment, and I have no idea what kind of membership it is. The funny part is, they don't even have a membership ID reflecting my information. I don't know how they managed to charge my credit without issuing me a membership #.
This kind of business practice should not be allowed. Imagine if someone bought something from this company and forgets to go through every single charge on his or her billing? Please take appropriate actions to prevent this bad business practice from re-happening.
