In Ex Designs contacted our company late October 2011 asking us to do sub-contract work for them. We agreed and were given different jobs to complete. All of these jobs were originally from April and May. That's right, they waited 6+ months to get someone to fix their customer's issues that they had received money for already. In Ex Designs is a roofing, storm chasing, company. They subbed their siding and gutter work out to us. The first few jobs we did for them, we did not have a issue getting paid. They sent one check, which was for a few jobs. The next check, however, took 2 months to receive. That was the last time we were paid by them.

There are 4 jobs that we have done that we were not paid for. The total is $4500. In Ex Designs had a man and wife running their South Carolina office. This is who we directly worked with. They stopped returning our calls. They blamed the corporate office, saying the corporate office wasn't paying them. The corporate office blamed the couple, saying they hadn't heard from them in a month.

2 of the jobs were regular subbed siding/gutters.

However, 2 of the jobs were FIXING IN-EX's MISTAKES!!! They sent an email begging us to help them out and fix someone's leaking roof and fix another section of shingles that were installed wrong. They installed the roof, not us. The 2 jobs were at the same house. We fixed the leak the day we were out there, but had to get them to order the shingles that needed to be replaced. 2 trips, 2 invoices.

I have tried to get paid from them for 2 months now. I can't get the owner, Scott, to return my call. The receptionist CeaCea just keeps saying she doesn't know anything. All I want to do is get paid for the work completed. Right now we are in the hole working for In Ex, after paying for materials and paying labor. The owner did not deny that we did the work, he knows we did the work. So why won't he pay us? Good question!!!

My husband did the work for this company and deserves to be paid for it. We have a 2 year old and 4 month old that depend on us. The owner knows this, but could care less. I spoke to him a month ago, but he won't return my calls.

Time for a Lawyer!

We are now having to get a lawyer. We are filing a lawsuit against the company. As you all can see, they acknowledge that we did the work. So why won't they pay us? Good question! I've waited over 4 months to get paid. I did talk to the VP, Scott. He said they didn't send the payment to South Carolina. So, I'm guessing Dan just said that to look good on here. They obviously aren't taking this serious and are not sorry for the inconvience they have caused us.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we are going to win the lawsuit. I have all emails to and from In-Ex asking us to do the work. We always emailed them the cost of the job, prior to completing the work. We also have Dan on here, from In-Ex, admitting we did great work, etc. I'm not sure if they think they won't have to pay us after taking them to court? It's going to cost them more in the long run, than it would if they would have just done the right thing. This is going to cause issues with their insurance, bonding, etc. Not my fault...

Advice to consumers...

Do not let them replace your roof. They are a storm chasing company. Once the area is "dried up," they leave. They were in South Carolina for less than 1 year. So who fixes your roof when they're gone?

Advice to sub-contractors...

Do not do work for this company. You can see that we did the work correctly, as Dan stated. They will not pay you. You will have to hire an attorney and file a lawsuit!
