I registered for the free Apple iBook and then completed 4 of 6 offers required to get it. They were Blockbuster, Bargain Network, Urban Nutrition, and the Entertainment Book. Later when I checked my status, 4 offers were shown as completed.

Only a few days later, my account shows no offers completed. Having already spent quite a bit of money, I was eager to straighten things out and complete the last two offers, but my emails went unanswered, except for one totally useless form letter. I am considering filing charges with the FTC for fraud.

Still trying Naturally, to date I've received no email

I'm still in limbo. After filing a complaint with the BBB, Consumer Incentive Promotions replied (to the BBB) that I hadn't fulfilled the requirements, and they would email me. Naturally, to date I've received no email. However, I have taken the phone number and name of the person that faxed the BBB and called them repeatedly. No reply, natch. I've also faxed proof of my purchases to CIP at the fax number they faxed the BBB from. No reply. Weasels. I'm not giving up, though. Steve - you have a direct email address or phone number extension for the gal that helped you so much?

Some General Tips For Dealing With Similar Companies

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, March 14, 2005

SCREEN SHOTS (Print Screen, then Copy and Paste to Paint/Photoshop/etc). I do this for every deal I complete online. It is important to use screen shots WITH the date and time box up (double click on clock on your task bar). TERMS & CONDITIONS Many of these companies have loose T&C's and they CHANGE THEM! It is important to have a timestamped copies of the terms YOU agreed to when you signed up. Again, use the screen shot w/date and time box up. CERTIFIED MAIL Spend the extra $2-$3 (USPS, etc) and get a signature confirmation for every "Redemption Form" or related mailed correspondence, so you have a name to work with. Take screen shots of the online confirmation w/timestamp...because after a few months, USPS/UPS/etc will remove the confirmation from their website. Well, the day I never expected finally came and I am writing this update on my brand new iBook G4. It totally rocks. So, after being a general pain in the butt (albeit politely) and suggesting that I might contact ALL of their sponsors if I was not satisfied, I did manage to get my laptop. So I am seriously happy. That said, this company seems woefully (and likely intentionally) inefficient and disorganized. I am not sure I would recommend this company to anyone, but right now I am happy as a clam. (Are clams really THAT happy?) I wish everyone else good luck. This just shows that they do at least follow through if you are enough of a pest. And the woman who helped me, Shendi, was VERY nice, so I can also say that in their favor. I'll try to post a link once I get some pics of the iBook online so you guys know I'm not kidding.

Kind of heard from Consumer Incentive Promotions on Monday of this week. Had a voicemail from someone named TINA at CIP. In that message she basically restated their terms and conditions - reminding me that from the time an order is made, they (CIP) have up to 8 weeks to get you credited. This doesn't just mean the company communicating it to Consumer Incentive Promotions, but also includes time for CIP to "enter it into the database." She assured me in the message that the requirement is simply for me to complete the required purchases within the 90 day period, not for them to credit me for all of them. She said if I still didn't have credit at the end of the 8 weeks from the order, she would have me snail mail or fax her the proof of purchase. I remain unconvinced, and highly skeptical, but the terms of conditions do state these conditions, so I'll be a good sport and wait a couple more weeks to see if they are good to their word. I read in another thread that the iBooks are backordered, so I'm going to be optimistic and pretend that CIP's just buying time in order to get more iBooks in and fulfill their end of the bargain, as opposed to trying to rip me off outright. We'll see, though...

Steve I was given the exact same information about my Sony Vaio.....allbeit I have not received mine yet, but it is due to be shipped to my home tomorrow. They told me 4 weeks ago that the Vaoi was backordered and it would be 5-6 weeks.....I called Tuesday and said them that someone else who finished their requirements AFTER me had already gotten their product, which was true. I would call back and say the same thing. Good luck....persistence pays off Shea

Of course, they responded with more BS and stalling tactics. Now, after five weeks of silence, I am told that the iBooks are backordered and I can either choose to take a base model Dell or wait indefinitely for the iBook. What the heck is THAT???? So much for the benefit of the doubt!

Well, as of tomorrow, it will be 5 weeks since I was told my order had been processed and that my iBook would be arriving in 4 -5 weeks, so you do the math. I have called a couple times and have not gotten the swift response I got before. In fact, not surprisingly, I got no response at all. As an optimist (read: sucker) I am hoping for the best and will update everyone on further developments, but as a realist, I am very grateful for the info regarding filing complaints with various attorneys general, which I will do I they have not repsonded by the end of the day today. Good luck everybody.

I am dealing with "consumerincentivepromotions.com" another alias of the same outfit doing business at: 14545 J Military Trail #189, Delray Beach, Florida 33484 I did get all 6 of my promotions cleared and got a voucher to mail off for my free laptop. I mailed it 2 days ago and they have 4 wks to ship it. I am still very skeptical. But it seems some people have received the product. (fingers crossed) My 6th promotion was a bottle of supplements from Longevity. I did the single bottle only and I paid for shipping so I wouldn't have to cancel the monthly shipment later. I got confirmation in 2 days.

It might help to list the companies we signed up for to see if any pattern emerges. Not likely, since I would bet that CIP/IRC is merely withholding information, and I'm sure everyone here would agree. But here's my list and when I received credit, to the best of my recollection. All offers were completed the same day I signed up. Offer page 1: AOL Musicnet (1 day) RealRhapsody (still no credit) Offer page 2: Bookspan (book club) (3-4 days) PetCare RX (3-4 days) Offer page 3: Discover card (10 days from signup/2-3 days after a rep from Discover called to confirm my application) Freeservers (1 day)

Not sure if this makes your experience better or worse, but VONAGE was one of the offers I did, and I got credit in just a few hours for it. In the interest of determining if there's a relationship between companies and reporting "delays," here's the list of what I responded to: - Blockbuster - Columbia House - Audible.com - International Wine Cellars - Vonage - Longevity (Urban Nutrition) Got credit for 1 - 5 of that list within 24 hours of each order. Have been waiting for over a month for the Longevity credit. Anyone else get speedy credit for Longevity? Should be interesting to see if there's any relationship between the companies that supposedly take longer to respond with credit, as its my suspicion that CIR just sits on the credits, hoping for us to get bored, or for the 90 day period to expire, whichever comes first...

I've only been trying for a playstation 2 which required 3 sponsor offers. Completed blockbuster and some face cream and final but still waiting to show complete is Vonage. Called Vonage and they didn't know anything about being a sponsor and asked me what web sites I was talking about. Must have started reading the reports here because he tells me it looks like a rip off. Even got his superviser involved and he didn't know much either. Just told me to contact emarketresearch(incentiverewardcenter) which I did thru a few e-mails from their site and phone calls with the 866-301-7260 number. Still no reply. Today I got an email about receiving a *free digital camera and it was from My Choice Rewards which had the same address as incentiverewardcenter (Military Trail, Delray Beach) How many different names do they have? If Vonage didn't know anything about this sponsership than how can they be listed on the site. I'm not thru with all this yet. Even though it seems like people have gotten their *free ipods, computers or whatever, it shouldn't have to happen through all this time consuming research and calling. The only reason I haven't given up yet is the principle of the whole thing. It's very bad business practice on emarketresearch And the sponsers.

It is tricky to determine who is telling the truth, especially when you've been ripped off, compounded by the fact that the internet and these posts afford many opportunities for anonymity - so, who to trust? I can only say that my aggrevation w/ this company's shady business tactics, and the desire to share my knowledge with the community, are the only things motivating me to post here. I know that many people will not take the time, or do not know how, to research this company in order to resolve the large number of "glitches", non-responses, unprocessed vouchers, purposeful difficulties in contacting them, etc., that continues to give the company the upper hand. This company banks on the fact that the majority of consumers will NOT take further action to find out why they haven't received their free iPod. This company is just hoping that consumers will forget all about the whole deal and let the company get away w/ pocketing whatever loose change they get by the consumer's purchased six required promotions. I know plenty of people who would not KNOW how to further act in order to resolve unfulfilled obligations on the part of this company. I feel that I have some responsibility to the community at large to inform them of means of action, relating my own personal experience - I know I'd like someone to do so for me if I didn't have the means or knowledge by myself to know how to take care of the situation, and to have my participation as a consumer actually be honored. If nothing else, by my posting info here re: the formal complaint actions involving the NC or FL Att Gens, either employees of the company will read the same information here, or will actually be notified by those Att Generals as per the growing number of frustrated consumers, and will start to shift their business practices to be more legit. W/ no one doing anything about it, letting people continue to be ripped off and not having their commitments honored, as well as quite a few dollars in the hole, this company will continue unabated and unabashed as though their behaviours until now are acceptable. Complaints about this company have been accumulating for months. There are numerous ways they could have been improving their practices so as to prove that they honor their customers. But they have hardly, if at all, changed their m.o. over the course of time - because it is beneficial to them not to. The less obligations they have to fulfill, the more profit for them. And it saddens me that hard-working people like us, most of whom are innocent and trustworthy, are ending up throwing around $100 or more away on these promotions, then being forgotten about and exploited. We're all exploited any way by being wage earners - but if this company who is setting the agenda and policy is going to promote their own business w/ promises of free iPods, they should be held to a certain standard of accountability, just as we are as consumers at the whim of their Terms and Conditions that could change at a moment's notice. Bottom line is, read the terms and conditions before getting into an agreement w/ this company. More than likely, certain phrases will get you to scratch your head and ponder whether this company has your interests as a priority: http://www.incentiverewardcenter.com/info.htm?tp=tos&promo_name=cleverscooter "Incentiverewardcenter at its sole discretion and for any reason or no reason at all may terminate any Members without prior notice for (a) any violation of any provision of this Agreement; (b) aiding in or promoting circumvention of the Incentiverewardcenter Service; (c) acting against the business interests or reputation of Incentiverewardcenter..." (I'm certainly "guilty" of this last segment!) Otherwise, if you've made it to this site, you've already engaged w/ the company and want to find out how to deal with them, so that you can feel honored and not exploited. Hence, all of my prior contact information both for the company, as well as for the Attorney General's offices in NC and FL have been made available. It sounds as though the jurisdiction for this company is in the county of Palm Beach, FL, so I would recommend focusing your attention w/ the FL A.G. office. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff129866.htm If all you want is your free gift, then call the customer hotline and see what happens. If you want to hold the company accountable and act as a representative for the many others who will continue to be ripped off, then call the customer service number, get your gift, and then alert the AG offices! Passing the torch to y'all...

Steve and Charlie, I'm not sure if I believe Todd in SF or not. I did everything he has suggested and nothing has helped. I also called the number and got a call back in about an hour, but since then I haven't heard a word from anyone and my email was also removed. A day later my email worked, but they still haven't received my voucher (I mailed at least 5 to every address listed on this site). The NC Attorney General's office forwarded my complaint to Florida and I havn't heard from their office yet. That was on Feb. 8th. I justed wanted to add to your complaint because I'm not sure about Todd's intentions. He may be an upstanding guy who just happens to take the time after receiving HIS iPod to help others do the same... or he may be working for Emarket Research and responding to all these different complaints for another reason (read money). If he is legitimate, I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE. I just know that I'm not sure if I would take all the time responding to these if I had a new iBook to play with. Something to think about. Peace

They apparently deleted my account. "Email not found. We are not able to find the following email address in our database at Consumerincentivepromotions. Did you sign up under a different email address?" Nice. And here I thought they might actually own up to their responsibility and make good on their committment. Guess not. I haven't heard back from either Attorney General office yet. Anyone know an appropriate next step? Deleting my account's the last straw, as it clearly indicates a lack of good faith or intention to resolve this matter... Charlie

Same experience as others... signed up for a free iMac. Purchased from 6 partners. Got credit for 5 within days, and have not received credit for the 6th after several weeks. I've contacted the company (Urban Nutrition) who assure me they've communicated my "credit" to Consumer Incentive Promotions. Have emailed Consumer Incentive Promotions on a daily basis - no reply. After finding this site, I called their 866 number and left several messages - also no reply. This morning I filed complaints with both the NC and FL Attorneys General. We'll see if that has the same successful resolution for me that its had for others. This site's a great resource. I encourage others to read the threads, gather your information, and file complaints with the appropriate authorities. These guys are rip-off artists. I'll post a follow-up should anything come of my calls and/or complaints. Charlie

Hi Steve, I'd just like to inform you and others reading this about steps to take re: this scam. As Incentive Reward Center (aka eMarket Research Group, Niu Tech LLC, etc.) has refused to put their "official" customer service hotline on their own website (they told the North Carolina Attorney General's office that they find it sufficient that it is posted on ripoffreport.com!), it is important to also document your experience of their poor (fraudulent) customer service practices with a public agency. If you do a search on this site for any one of their pseudonyms, you'll find plenty other stories re: their shady business practices. I would urge you, or anyone else scammed by this company, to file a consumer complaint to the NC and Florida Att Generals' offices, Consumer Protection division. See my previous post here for further details as to how. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff129866.htm I also had a poor experience w/ the same company. My account information did not accurately reflect the purchases I had made, and my numerous emails to them via their webform remained unanswered. Once I filed my complaint w/ the NC Att. General's office, I got the promoted free iPod within the week! Your filing an official complaint would behoove the many others who haven't found ripoffreport.com to inform themselves of this scam (or to find the company's "official customer service hotline")! This scam has been going on for quite a while, with little change or improvement to their "customer service". The only way to affect change is by involving a public agency - and is very easy to do (only takes about 15 minutes to fill out their form, and that's all). Hope it works out for you!

I called the number I found on here (866) 301-7260 and left a message and I got a call back in about an hour! Not only that, they apologized and gave me credit for all the offers I had responded to (they were missing one, but I faxed them documentation and got credit for that too). LAter, I needed more help, so I left another message and again was promptly called back. Since htne I have completed my last two offers (today) and will let you all know if I end up getting my free iBook or not. But I must say I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the speed and helpfulness of their response!

I advise you to research the site, people have listed phone numbers to call and also who to contact to help resolve the issue. Apparently the company is based out of NC. There are instructions for contacting the NCDOJ in other post on this site. I wish you the best of luck. I have also completed 8 offers, however, 1 has not been posted. It would be the one I paid for. (vonage). Fortunately, vonage has a refund policy.
