Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company is the go between for mortgage companies to take checks payable to you and your mortgage company to supposedly confirm that work has been done before releasing funds back to you. They have not a care in the world that your home is not able to be repaired or completed without releasing funds. I owe less than $25,000 on my house and they are holding $22,000 hostage after thier inspector told my contractor ours was 100% complete. Then he entered it as 98%. So they rejected the inspection. All mortgage companies release @ 90% completion. But CENLAR is a junk mortgage company with every firewall available to even keep you from talking to a person.

I also have a final check for a lot more than $22K that I have to reluctantly send them bacause it is payable to me and CENLAR.

Companies like this get away with whatever they want because nobody is regulating them. They hang on to every cent as LONG as they possible do so. I've not been in my home for 10 months due to a Tornado. And these people are preventing me from moving back home. If I could - I would sue them for every possible dollar. They are frauds preying on people in bad situations. Remember they are holding $22,000 dollars when I only owe them $24,000 on my loan. Do they think I would walk away from such a large claim with my house being completely rebuilt? It sure looks like they are hoping I would so they could capture my house. Can you tell how I really feel about them?!

The CFPB has the power to enforce the laws regarding your insurance payment retained by the mortgage servicer. Also, report them to the insurance commissioner for your state. This is one of the more common abuses by the mortgage servicing companies.
